No City Limits
Alby Pool
Alby is fast becoming a household name in country music since the release of his self titled album, a follow up to the very successful “One Good Reason” CD. Now a regular performer at most of Australia’s major country music festivals, Alby (originally form Western Australia) is bringing his particular style of country music to his many fans on the east coast.
Alby and his band “No City Limits” have been a major draw card at the Tamworth country music festival for many years now, and always play to a full house!
Alby has always surrounded himself with the finest musicians, as is evident in the current “No City Limits” line up.  For any true country music fan, an Alby Pool performance is one not to be missed.  His professionalism, humility and talent are seen as a benchmark for his peers and up and coming artists to aspire to.

Duncan Toombs – Guitar
Former lead guitarist with well known country band Southern Steel, Duncan is currently recording and touring with Adam Brand.

 Greg Franks – Bass
Greg has been playing with Alby Pool for many years, and has been a feature of too many local bands to mention!

Mick Albeck- Fiddle
Having played previously with "The Wheel" and country legends like Troy Cassar Daley and Adam Harvey, Mick now brings his great fiddle playing talents to “No City Limits”

 Mal Lancaster – Drums
A former member of Col Finlays band, Mal is one of the area’s finest drummers.

Grant is a shearer, stockman and presently a sort-after horse-breaker from the central west of New South Wales who has been singing since the age of fifteen.  Grant is a graduate of the 2000 CMAA Australian College Of Country Music.  He won the prestigious Toyota Star Maker in that same year.  In 2001 Grant was a Golden Guitar Finalist in New Talent Of The Year with his Star Maker release Huey which was the inspiration behind Rural Press’ recently produced cd SEND IT DOWN HUGHIE - a small gesture from the country music community to those most affected by drought. It was the brainchild of Grant’s, who empathised with farmers difficulties, and felt he should and could do something.  The album is available by phoning 1800 030 080.  Grant’s self-titled debut album was released in Tamworth in January 2002 and in January 2003 he won MALE VOCALIST OF THE YEAR at the Tamworth Independent Artists Recognition Awards for the romantic ballad STAY.  Grant’s country performance rocks and once seen you will be guaranteed that you have witnessed - The Real Deal!
THE REAL DEAL
There probably aren’t too many horse-breakers and shearers who can seriously present strong credentials in the country music industry, but GRANT RICHARDSON can proudly raise his hand.  In the word of award-winning producer Herm Kovac from Ramrod Studios “This bloke can REALLY sing!”
This real-life horse-breaker and shearer from Mandurama in Central West NSW has broken in an ever-increasing fan base since he won the prestigious Toyota Star Maker title in 2000, and followed up with a couple of major chart singles in the process, including the Golden Guitar Finalist song HUEY.

The likeable larrikin is refreshingly without pretence, and his music encapsulates the essence of his rural lifestyle – he sings about things he knows and lives.  For all of his working life, Grant’s been involved in agriculture, and living in the country has provided plenty of inspiration for his songs, and given him license to be described by some in the country music business as “the real deal”.  He left home when he was 15 and went to work on a sheep and cattle station at Julia Creek (Queensland) as a stockman.  He started breaking horses up there at the age of 16, and since then has been a rural contractor, interstate truck driver, and shearer and even had a go at being a shearer’s cook.
Like countless contenders before him, Grant discovered that the quick trip to fame was in fact a long and dusty road filled with the inevitable potholes, and it’s been the incredible support from a loyal bunch of mates and fans that levelled the corrugations and helped him to his dream of a debut album.

A collection of 19 mates from throughout rural Australia, including shearers, station owners, abattoir workers, and even a politician, chipped in to raise the $20,000 necessary for Grant to record and release the album.  It’s a unique capital-generating initiative that Grant says was not his idea, but the brainwave of one of his shearing mates, and the bottom line was they put their money where Grant’s mount is – and with justifiable cause, because the album has turned up trumps.

GRANT RICHARDSON could have been titled many things – THE REAL DEAL or SHEEP AND WHEAT or even SHOWTIME, but the fact is that this album IS Grant Richardson.  It’s a gifted singer and entertainer taking songs that have real meaning in his country lifestyle, working with ace producer Herm Kovac and a wonderfully talented bunch of musicians, and coming out of the chute with a superb Australian country album.

Songs like the contagious SHOWTIME and the bush anthem BUNDY ON are great examples of tracks that typify the rural culture – and both have a distinctive fun factor.  Not all the songs are about the bush, because this album is GRANT RICHARDSON, and the larrikin element comes out in the first single GET A HAIRCUT – this is the horse-breaker with attitude, and it fits to perfection.

There is a serious and thoughtful side to Grant, and he pulls back into reflective mode on the poignant STAY and the hurting SHE’S GOT A LOT ON HER HEART.

A real bonus is the standout treatment of the James Taylor classic SWEET BABY JAMES in collaboration with Anne Kirkpatrick.  And Grant proves he can pen with the best with the nostalgic original KURRAJONG PROMISES.

The album is original, infectious, personal, outstanding and most importantly, it is unmistakably GRANT RICHARDSON.

CARTER & CARTER

‘MAKING THE MOST OF EVERY MINUTE’

MAKING THE MOST OF EVERY MINUTE is exactly how the country music hit-makers Carter & Carter approach every facet of their career and life. There really is no other word but SENSATIONAL to describe their achievements of over the past 2 years.

Everything that the highly talented team of David and Merelyn does has the positive stamp. Their songwriting is warm, personal, immensely listenable, and delivers some wonderfully memorable messages - four of their original hit songs Dance Away The Night, A Little Place Called Love, Candlelight and Kisses & Lead Me Home are just some examples of song-crafting that will stand the inevitable test of time. Their music is uplifting, optimistic, honest and enduring.

Their live performances draw sell-out crowds – and the past year with tours throughout Australia, New Zealand and Norfolk Island were testimony to that fact - with their vibrant, refreshing approach and unstoppable energy that establishes an immediate rapport with the audiences.

By any yardstick, their track record is amazing. The debut album produced three national top 10 hits - You Were There rose to #6, Dance Away The Night stayed at #1 for 2 weeks and A Little Place Called Love made it back to back #1’s.  Carter & Carter also picked up over a dozen major awards including 2001 Australian Artist & Album of the Year, Victorian Album & Female Vocalist of the Year, TSA Overall Country & Gospel Song of the Year and ACMLA Peoples Choice Awards for Album & Song of the Year.

The inevitable "hard act to follow" adage certainly didn’t apply to Carter & Carter  with their next single Easy Making Love  (from the new album Every Minute) completing a hat-trick of national #1’s in their debut year in country music and earning them 2 Golden Guitar nominations at the 2002 Awards in Tamworth.

Throughout 2002 the awards and recognition just kept on coming as Carter & Carter took out the prestigious CMAA Achiever Award for the 2002 Independent Entertainers of the Year, the 2002 Victorian Entertainers of the Year and then went on to win the APRA/AMCOS Independent Country Music Single of the Year, with Easy Making Love.  They also created history by winning the Independent Artist of the Year for the 2nd year running at the Australian Independent Country Music Awards. It was the ultimate peer recognition of a fact that their fans were already well aware of - Australian country music was privy to something very, very special.

In April, Carter & Carter gave us another teaser to their much-awaited new album Every Minute – the single Candlelight And Kisses soared into the charts and reached #2 on the National Country Tracks Top 30, heralding two smash hits from their forthcoming album due for release in January 2003. It also picked up a swag of nominations for Tamworth 2003 including Golden Guitar for Group/Duo, 2 TIARA’s, 2 TSA Song Salutes, 1 ACMLA Peoples Choice and 3 Victorian Country Music Awards nominations.

And with their current single Lead Me Home  heading up the charts, a video clip on CMC in December, and touring opportunities arriving from around Australasia, Carter & Carter can head into the launch of Every Minute with a quiet confidence that 2003 will be another great year, and this new album will be warmly welcomed and regarded by industry and fans alike.

It's a remarkable story of talent and dedication that adds up to the success story of the decade thus far. And the most remarkable part is that Carter & Carter have only just started.

POSITIVELY SENSATIONAL? ……………….. no argument whatsoever!
