Beccy Cole and Sara Storer
They are two of the biggest names in country music and between them they have 16 Golden GuitarsGuitars
and a swag of gold and platinum awards – and for the first time, they are about tour together.
There’s no disputing that Beccy Cole is the reigning poster girl of Australian country music.
In January, Beccy’s latest hit single, the heartfelt and honest “Poster Girl (Wrong Side of the World)”,
swept all before it to take out a remarkable three Golden Guitars at country’s most prestigious awards.
The hat trick of Golden Guitars is the latest in a long string of successes for Beccy, whose talents as a
singer, songwriter and performer have taken her to the forefront of Australian country music
over the past year.
This dynamic, appealing singer has it all: personality, a style of her own, enormous talent as both a
songwriter and a performer, and oceans of charisma!
Sara Storer is undoubtedly one of Australia's most unique singer / songwriters. She defies categorization!
Since bursting onto the Australian Music scene just seven years ago with her critically acclaimed album,
Chasing Buffalo, Sara has gone onto become one of the most awarded artists in Australian country music
history. In 2004 she took out 7 Golden Guitars for her now platinum selling album, Beautiful Circle. She
now has 9 Golden Guitars in her collection.
In 2005 Sara released her third album, Firefly and toured Australia with legendary Paul Kelly.
Recently Sara has been writing for her highly anticipated 4th album which is expected to be
released in the second half of 2007.

Songbirds
Multi-award winning artists Gina Jeffreys, Beccy Cole and Sara Storer have announced dates for what is being hailed as the concert
tour of 2007.
“Songbirds” is the brainchild of the girls themselves.
They have been friends for some time and through the years have also guested on each others live shows and recordings, so it
seemed to be a natural step for them put together a concept where they could share the stage along with some of their individual
songs. Beccy, Gina and Sara are of course three of Australia’s most acclaimed and successful country music singers. Between them
they have 24 Golden Guitar Awards along with a haul of ARIAs, Entertainer of the Year, APRAs and certified Gold and Platinum sales awards.
Audiences can not only expect to hear the hit songs from three of the most beautiful individual voices on any stage, any where, but
will also be treated to some very special “trio” performances of songs chosen by the girls from their own album collections.
It’s now more than a decade since Gina Jeffreys won the Toyota Star Maker Quest, marking the start of a remarkable career that’s
taken Gina to the top of the country music industry.
She has earned numerous accolades, performed to sell-out crowds and sold volumes of records.
But the release of an exquisite new album, ‘Walks Of Life’, heralds a new chapter in the Gina Jeffreys story. Produced by husband Rod
McCormack, ‘Walks Of Life’ showcases a new vocal maturity on a collection of songs that are near and dear to Gina’s heart.
There’s no disputing that Beccy Cole is the reigning poster girl of Australian country music.

Sara Storer – “The Territory Calling”
ABC TV 3.05pm Sunday 10th December
Since making history in 2004 by taking out 7 Golden Guitars, Sara Storer’s star has continued to shine brightly on the Australian musical landscape.

She has toured nationally with Paul Kelly, featured on a tribute album for Neil and Tim Finn, been included on the inaugural Broad tour with some of Australia’s finest female singer / songwriters and earned a platinum album for her “Beautiful Circle” CD and Gold for her debut, “Chasing Buffalo”. And to cap it off, she took out the coveted Golden Guitar for Female Vocalist of the Year in January this year.

With so much going on in her life Sara needed to get back to her roots as a source of inspiration for her songwriting.

So when the opportunity came along for her to travel to Darwin to shoot a film clip for Since I’ve Gone, a track from her hit album “Firefly”, Sara packed her bags and headed back to the Northern Territory – the place where it all started for her some 6 years ago.

In Darwin, Sara met up with her old mate Ted Egan AO who is the Administrator of the Northern Territory. Ted was only too happy to advise Sara on locations and introduce her to some of the characters now featured in the documentary The Territory Calling.

As Sara observes, “Darwin has an amazing story that isn’t so far away from its past” and this journey is a snapshot of history and diversity. Stops along the way include:

• Fannie Bay Gaol – Ted takes Sara to the historic facility where country music legend Tex Morton was once an in-mate,

• The Mary River – an absolutely stunning setting where Sara fishes for Barramundi while ever vigilant for the Top End’s famous crocs!

• The Tiwi Islands – an indigenous community where the culture, arts and crafts have been wonderfully preserved. Along with a visit to a traditional burial ground, Sara gets a chance to join the local kids for a swim at a secret water hole, which she finds inspiring.

• Mindil Beach Sunset Markets – an eclectic array of produce, foods and people, all illustrating the proximity of Darwin to Asia.

Sara also investigates some of Darwin’s colorful history by talking to a number of the city’s long-time residents including Norma Grant, a Cyclone Tracy survivor and World War II gunner, Hughie McIntosh.

ABC TV will broadcast The Territory Calling at 3.05pm on Sunday 10th December. Don’t miss this fascinating travelogue into the part of Sara’s world where she drew much of her inspiration for her award winning songs.

Qantas will screen an edited version (to suit in-flight time limitations) of the documentary in Q Music entertainment from 18th December.

The Territory Calling is also a companion DVD to Sara’s much-applauded latest album Firefly.

Winner  2006 CMAA
Country Music Awards of Australia!

Sara Storer was named for the 2nd time, Female Vocalist of the Year for the single Firefly from her album of the same name. Sara’s compelling songs evoking the bush and characters have now earned her 9 Golden Guitars and she dedicated this award to her father. During 2005, Sara took country music to a wider audience through the national tour with Paul Kelly and her ‘Broad’ tour with Deborah Conway and Katie Noonan,
Sara is back on the road to WA in late March with this year’s Male Vocalist of the Year Troy Cassar-Daley, then the NT and NSW’s north coast in May.

On 14th October, Troy Cassar-Daley and Sara will embark on a double bill tour that will take them right around Australia until June, 2006.

Following her history making win of 7 Golden Guitars at the 2004 Country Music Awards of Australia, Sara Storer has become one of the most sort-after performers in Australia.

In July this year Sara released her 3rd album, Firefly and it shot straight to #1 on the National ARIA Country Music Chart and stayed there for 3 weeks!

Testament to Sara’s “hot property status” is her inclusion on the forthcoming Neil and Tim Finn tribute album, She Will Have Her Way which also features Missy Higgins and Kasey Chambers.

In September Sara received an ARIA nomination for Best Country Album in a field that includes international star Keith Urban and renowned singer/songwriter, Paul Kelly.

Sara has certainly come a long way since her time as a schoolteacher in a remote aboriginal settlement, Kalkaringi, south west of Katherine, NT but she’s still very certain about what really matters in her life. “My family, my music, my friends - they’ll always be what inspires me and what makes me happy. If I can stay grounded and remember that, then everything else will follow,” she said.

Since his career took off with the release of his debut album, Beyond The Dancing, in 1994, Troy has toured with some of the biggest names in the world including Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, LeAnn Rimes and the Dixie Chicks.

Troy performed to a television audience of more than a billion when he sang Waltzing Matilda at the Opening Ceremony of the Rugby World Cup in 2003. And in the same year, he was honoured by the high rating television show, ‘This Is Your Life’ and received tributes from a variety of stars including Tommy Emmanuel, LeAnn Rimes, Keith Urban, Col Joye and Kasey Chambers.

On 9th October, Troy will release his 6th album, Brighter Day. Already been hailed by media (who have received advance copies) as his best work to date, Brighter Day features backing vocals by Jimmy Barnes and Kasey Chambers as well as a bonus version of the hit duet, Bird On A Wire that Jimmy & Troy released earlier this year.

With the anticipation that sounds the release of Brighter Day and the double bill tour with Sara, there is no doubt that Troy’s star is set to shine even brighter into the future.

BACK ON THE ROAD IN 2005
While Sara Storer spent a big slice of her time on tour throughout Australia in 2004 following her record breaking 7 Golden Guitar haul at last year’s Country Music Awards, so far, 2005 has seen Sara writing and recording her highly anticipated 3rd CD.

Set for release in July, Sara’s yet untitled new album is shaping up to be one of the big music events of this year. With studio guests such as Paul Kelly and Josh Cunningham (from the Waifs), the next album is sure to take Sara’s profile to yet another level.

Never one to be idle, Sara has decided to hit the road again for some selected shows by way of offering a sneak preview of her new songs before the album is released mid-year.

Sara Storer and Adam Harvey from CMAA
Sara Storer and Adam Harvey were among the winners at the recent Gold Manuscript Awards, the ABC's sixth annual awards for composers and songwriters held in Sydney before many representatives from the music and television industries.
Other winners were screen music composers Tim Prince and Pete Lawler for the theme and original music in Heart & Soul: Kylie Kwong, Kim Cunio for the original music in the Compass special Tomorrow's Islam, Amica or Daniela Taliangis, Kristina Visocchi and Natalie Strother for their debut Life Is Fun.
The night began with a keynote speech from Michael Gudinski, chairman of Mushroom Music.
Presenters included Jerry Salley, America's SEASAC 2003 Country Songwriter of the Year, Nashville-based songwriter Jim McBride, (in Australia for a songwriters retreat with Salley, Rod McCormack and writers Adam Harvey, Beccy Cole, Gina Jeffreys and Lyn Bowtell), Valli Little, food editor of glossy food magazine Delicious, ABC radio broadcaster Rachael Kohn and Art Phillips, internationally known writer and President of the Australian Guild of Screen Composers.
Acoustic performances came from Sara Storer and Beccy Cole (who was unexpectedly joined on stage by an amazing line-up of Sara, Tamara Stewart, Melinda Schneider and Becky Willis for a rousing version of Single Girl Blues) as well as Josh Arnold who is currently working on a new release for ABC Music's new Roots label.

Sara Storer made history when she picked up seven Golden Guitar awards in Tamworth in January 2004. Never before had one artist dominated any one awards ceremony to such a remarkable degree. And Sara’s astonishing haul of trophies came after she’d already become the most nominated artist in awards history. That night, she picked up the awards for Song of the Year, Female Vocalist, Album of the Year, Single of the Year, Bush Ballad, Heritage Song and Vocal Collaboration.

The phenomenal success of Sara Storer continues with sales for her latest album "Beautiful Circle" eclipsing gold status of 35,000 copies.
Sara was presented with the Award by her idol John Williamson at her Vanguard gig in Sydney.

Sara’s has released her first DVD this month, Stories to Tell. Filmed at her family property near Dubbo in New South Wales it reveals the stories and inspiration behind Sara’s songs.

Her live shows have sold out everywhere. From Warwick to Warracknabeal and from Geraldton to Grafton, fans have been coming out in droves causing unprecedented demand on venue box offices in clubs and theatres across the country.

Sara currently holds the #1 & #2 spots on the national Country music radio chart and her live shows have sold out everywhere.
