Rockin Up to Tamworth
Tamworth, 22 June 2007:
Known for the talent that it moulds, holds and sets upon the world, Australia’s Country Music Capital is no stranger to being the education-place for many emerging artists who often find inspiration in the home of the Big Golden Guitar. In November 2006, Tourism Tamworth was treated to a live impromptu performance of “Rockin Up” by local country music star Aaron Bolton. The song was penned as a tribute to the annual Tamworth Country Music Festival.

In a partnership, the song became Tourism Tamworth’s creative driving force that all Festival advertising focused around. The song “Rockin Up”, through inclusion on all the advertising was heard by half of Australia in December and January and received high rotation airplay on a number of radio stations throughout the country. In addition to this, hundreds of copies of the single were sold throughout the Festival much to the delight of many.

In May 2007, Aaron Bolton set to work on completing the package and commissioned producer, Duncan Toombs to deliver a Film Clip of the same high standards of the song. The end product is homage to the icon January Festival and encompasses the true excitement and energy of the Tamworth Country Music Festival.

The entire film clip was filmed in Tamworth using images from the 2007 Tamworth Country Music Festival and Tamworth’s latest venue, “The Goodies” as the backdrop for the visually spectacular clip.

The final product can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5BbnC_bGo8

“What a fantastic way for the Festival to be seen, the song is great and the film clip compliments the messages in the song perfectly, we (Tourism Tamworth) were extremely grateful to have the opportunity to work with the talented musicians and to partner with Aaron Bolton who we believe has assisted Tourism Tamworth communicate the festival to a younger market through a unique promotional channel”, said Ms Rebel Thomson, Tourism Tamworth General Manager.

Aaron Bolton is a young talent who has earnt his stripes on the Tamworth pub scene, having performed across the New England North West for the past several years, Aaron has built a following of locals and visitors who appreciate the rare talent the local boasts.

Couple the belting voice of Bolton with the unique and special song writing abilities of ‘The Baileys” lead guitarist Daniel Conway who penned “Rockin Up” and the product speaks for itself.

Aaron’s Rockin’ Up with The Rockerfellas
Aaron Bolton’s festival experience this year was “complete” – and reinforced to him why he is in the country music business, more so now than ever. He had his own band; his first single, which has been receiving widespread airplay, was released to radio earlier in the month; and the reaction they received at gigs was nothing short of amazing.
Early in January Aaron’s single, Rockin’ Up, was released to radio stations across Australia and the timing was perfect. The song, composed by Aaron’s good friend, Daniel Conway, from The Baileys band, tells of the excitement and anticipation leading up to Tamworth’s biggest party of the year – the annual Country Music Festival – although it could easily be the theme song for any large gathering of party-goers. “Not only could I immediately relate to the song when Daniel first played it to me, I felt there and then it was a song that would appeal to people from all over the place who count down the sleeps to the festival,” Aaron said. “Then when Daniel told me he wanted me to sing it, I was absolutely rapt. It was so cool recording the song at Matt Fell’s studio in Sydney. We worked with some of the best players in the business.” Another festival highlight for Aaron was opening Wednesday’s Buttercup Open House concert to a packed Tamworth Town Hall, where he, Daniel Conway and Rob Brown opened the show performing Rockin’ Up. They rocked, they were applauded and then they scooted off to their gig at The Pub that same evening. Throughout the festival Aaron worked with his band, composed of some of Tamworth’s finest musicians – Golden Guitar winner Rob Brown, much respected drummer David “Stix” Adams, singer-songwriter and guitarist Steve Charles, delightful vocalist Nicole Geddes and guitar sensation Rusty Crook, who are also known as The Rockerfellas. Aaron teamed with the band mid to late 2006 and they’ve been working solidly around the city and the north and north-west ever since, building up a loyal following. Aaron and the band plan to travel far and wide this year, and hope to grow their fanbase at festivals and special events all over the country.

Aaron’s Rockin’ Up in the lead-up to January in Tamworth
Timing is certainly a key factor when it comes to pitching the right song to the right people at the right time. Aaron Bolton’s timing was right on the money, when he’d heard Tourism Tamwdaniorth was looking for an upbeat song to help market the Tamworth Country Music Festival. Aaron’s good mate, Daniel Conway, had written a new song called Rockin’ Up – which was all about the anticipation of the huge party that is Tamworth every January – and it fitted the bill perfectly. Daniel, who is the lead guitarist, songwriter and singer with The Baileys, wanted a voice to give the song life, and chose Aaron to cut a demo. For the promotions and marketing team at Tourism Tamworth, it was just what the doctor ordered – a fresh take on the exciting lead-up to Tamworth’s biggest party of the year – the annual Tamworth Country Music Festival. Tourism Tamworth commissioned the recording of the song, which was completed at Matt Fell’s studio in Sydney. A television commercial has been made, with the song as its theme for the promotion of the festival. It is already airing in many parts of Australia now – and will be seen throughout Australia in January, inviting everyone to join in the festive spirit. The song will be released to radio stations around Australia in early January – so make sure you tune in to your favourite station and listen out for Rockin’ Up.

Aaron’s new band, an amalgam of established Tamworth band The Rockerfellas, performed their first gig together at The Pub on Friday, December 22 – and they certainly got The Pub audience well and truly Rockin’ Up. Catch them at their gigs in Tamworth during the festival – the first at SouthGate Inn’s Gate Bar at high noon on Friday, December 19 and on then again on Wednesday, January 24 at The Pub at 8pm.
A copy of the song’s lyrics are included below for your information:
ROCKIN’ UP
People gather round, there’s a feelin’ running underground
People listen up, there’s a storm comin’, can you hear the sound
Something’s in the air, it’s a taste of what’s in share
Something’s building up; it’s a piece of what’s to come
It’s just that time again, we’re gonna rock until we bend
If you can’t keep the beat, stand back and watch your hands and feet

‘Cause we’re here to party, soon as we get started
Everybody comes runnin’ from across the land
If anybody slows down, we’re gonna leave ‘em in the dust
The sun maybe goin’ down but we’re all rockin’ up

People near and far, don’t matter where or who you are
People understand, this is not a choice it’s demand
It’s just that time again; you’re either out or you’re in
If you can’t go the distance, tell me now before we begin

‘Cause we’re here to party, soon as we get started
Everybody comes runnin’ from across the land
If anybody slows down, we’re gonna leave ‘em in the dust
The sun maybe goin’ down but we’re all rockin’ up

Attention everybody, children of all ages, this is just a message an open invitation
Attention everybody, children of all ages, this is just a message an open invitation

Local lads deliver early Festival cheer!
Tamworth, 6 December 2006: Tamworth is known for the talent that it moulds, holds and sets upon the world. As the Country Music Capital, Tamworth is no stranger to being the school ground and education-place for many emerging artists who often find inspiration in the home of the Big Golden Guitar; Tamworth talent has come through once again…
Aaron Bolton is a young talent who has earnt his stripes on the Tamworth pub scene. Having performed across the New England North West for the past several years, Aaron has built a following of locals and visitors who appreciate the rare talent the local boasts.
Couple the belting voice of Bolton with the unique and special song writing abilities of ‘The Baileys” lead guitarist and song-writer Daniel Conway and you can imagine the product that these two aficionados’ might create. Imagine no more, these two have partnered together after finding inspiration in the Tamworth Country Music scene and more specifically, our world renowned Festival.
Two weeks ago, the two musicians invited members of Tourism Tamworth to a live performance of their song “Rockin Up”, a tribute to the Tamworth Country Music Festival. It was (in their words) “an opportunity for us to perform to the group who are working closely on the promotion of the Festival, in case it could be used in anyway. The Festival is so much fun and so important to the industry that we just thought if there was an opportunity for us to contribute to it that we should take the chance” said Aaron Bolton.
Upon hearing the song penned by the young Conway, the Marketing Team imagined it fitting perfectly with the television commercials (TVC’s) currently being created to promote the Festival to potential visitors across the country, as well as other possible promotional opportunities as they arise. Tourism Tamworth immediately moved forward to commission the song to be recorded.
Upon receiving the complete work on Monday this week (4th December 2006), the Tamworth Visitor Information Centre turned into a party of it’s own with the song causing staff to create improvised office dance floors. “It was crazy, we heard this song and straight away we all just loved it. It is a great song, really infectious and not only a great representation [in our opinion] of Tamworth and the Festival but also of the talent that this city holds” said Ms Rebel Thomson, General Manager, Tourism Tamworth.
The team at Tourism Tamworth are now in consultation with the artists and their management regarding taking the song further. Whilst the song will still be used on television commercials and other advertisements to promote the Tamworth Country Music Festival, presented by Telstra the whole team believes “this song is so good, it would be a waste not to do something more with it”, added Ms Thomson.
Tamworth locals and Festival stakeholders will be treated to the songs first preview tomorrow night at the Community Launch of the 2007 Tamworth Country Music Festival and Open Day Showcase of the Tamworth Regional Entertainment Centre (TREC). Aaron Bolton will take to the stage at approximately 6:30pm. The launch starts at TREC at 5:30pm and will finish at 8pm.
