Davidson Brothers & Kristy Cox ready to tour South Australia...
- 18th June 2007

After a great response to their first performance in South Australia, Queen's Birthday weekend at Barmera, the Davidson Brothers are looking forward to touring with Kristy Cox through her home state this July.
Following success of Hamish & Lachlan's latest album, Raised On The Road, which was recorded in Nashville the boys think it's about time they tackle new territory and in what better way than to do a double header show with Mount Barker singing sensation, Kristy Cox.
"We've had a lot of bluegrass & country fans from SA contacting us asking when we're coming over" says Hamish.

The first show is at the famous Governor Hindmarsh in Adelaide. Kristy mentioned "This is my first tour, I'm very excited to perform in my home state and catch up with of old school friends and family along the way".
After the Adelaide show they will then head up to the small town of Wilmington before headin further north to Leigh Creek and finishing up in Port Pirie.

This year the Davidson Brothers new album has seen them win 2 TIARA awards at Tamworth, including Independant Album of the Year, A Golden Guitar nomination, they were awarded Best Bluegrass & Traditional Country recording at the Victorian & National Country Music Awards as well as the first single, Raised On The Road charting on the CMR Australian country radio charts along with the video clip reaching #15 on CMC.
Another exciting point is that the Davidson Brothers did a collaboration with South Australian born, Travis List on their album which was also made top 5 in the VIC awards.

Kristy Cox is a 22 year old bombshell from Mount Barker, SA. Since winning a Nescafe Big Break in 2002 she has been a 2 time finalist in TOYOTA STARMAKER in Tamworth, Graduated from Country Music College and most recently she has released her debut album, "From My Eyes". Kristy's had a great reaction to her first two radio singles gaining national airplay along with her debut video clip to be released to CMC at the end of June. The album was nominated for Victorian Album of the Year February this year.

It won two Australian Independent Country Music Awards (TIARAs) for Instrumental of the Year and Album of the Year in Tamworth. Then in February it won the Bluegrass & Traditional Country Award in the Victorian Country Music Awards.

Don't Turn Me Down is the title of the song which gained the boys this trophy, and has been released to radio a couple of weeks ago as the 2nd single from the new album.

This year has shown the boys their first sold at shows, in the home town of Yinnar, Vic as well more recently in Noble Park, Vic. “their fast-tracking music career is a combination of passion, energy, respect for tradition, and destiny …. Two young blokes with all the energy and drive of their generation, and an innate ability to transpose that energy to a younger audience …. the spontaneity of youth and some excellent self-penned songs … And then of course there is the supreme musicianship”

DAVIDSON BROTHERS

The Davidson Brothers brand new album is out now!
(Release date: Monday the 4th September)
Hamish and Lachlan Davidson have been hard at work over the last few months, writing and recording their brand new album titled "Raised on the Road" and consists of mainly original material. The album is made up of primarily bluegrass along with contemporary Acoustic, country and swing.
They flew to the USA in July to record with producer Mark Thornton, who plays guitar in Jerry Reed's band, at Sidekick Studios, Nashville TN. It had always been a dream of theirs to record with some of the favourite musicans, having listened to their work on literally hundreds of albums. Lachlan says, "It was a huge thrill when the musicians all came in on the Thursday to do the Band tracks. It was amazing to play live with some of our heros!"

Hamish Davidson - Banjo, Fiddle, Vocals
Lachlan Davidson - Mandolin, Fiddle, Vocals
Bryan Sutton - Guitar (Dixie Chicks, Ricky Skaggs)
Randy Kohrs - Dobro, Harmony Vocals (Dolly Parton Band, Dierks Bentley)
Dennis Crouch - Double Bass (Walk the line Soundtrack, Johnny Cash)

Raised on the Road really showcases the Brothers development in their writing with songs, Where I Wanna Be, and Walkin 'Round Blind. The boys really show off thier expertise with the instrumental Skrub Turkey which had the musicians sweating in the studio, and Randy said, "Man, I only have to play that fast twice a year!" They reveal a more sensitive side on Lonely's Rules and indulged in a bit of swing on Mojo. Hamish also let's go of some steam on It's A Banjo. The fast paced, Don't turn me Down, was co-written with Brooke McClymont. The boys Collaborated with a friend of theirs from South Australia, Travis List on the classic bluegrass song, Don't Give Your Heart To A Rambler.

The Davidson Brothers will be appearing in their home town for the launch of the new CD. YINNAR HOTEL - 9:00pm - Friday 8th September
They will also we appearing at the DENI UTE MUSTER 29-30th September

NEWS   5th June 2006
The Davidson Brothers are heading to Nashville on the 18th of July to record a new album. It has been three years since they released their previous album, Stay All Night, but these young men are ready to step back into the arena and really stir things up.

Hamish and Lachie have been writing and planning for this album over the last few months whilst studying at university and performing at festivals Australia-wide.

This is going to be a bluegrass album featuring many original songs. They have some of the worlds most highly regarded bluegrass musicians joining them in the studio. The album is being produced by Mark Thornton (guitarist in Jerry Reed’s band).

“We’re so pumped to get over there and really reach our potential in the studio” says Hamish. It has been their dream for some years to record in the USA, after many visits there as youngsters.

Now with the help of winning a Nescafe Big Break in 2005 and some great support from all over Australia, fans can expect a slick album that captures the unique energy of the Davidson Brothers.

The boys will be appearing with their band at the Gympie Muster in August where they will be launching the album. They are also featuring at the 2006 Deniliquin Ute Muster in September.

To catch the boys before they go, they have two BIG shows in Victoria this June:

FROM YINNAR TO KENTUCKY
AND SOUTHBANK

Gippsland born and bred bluegrass band The Davidson Brothers have soaked up the grass roots of their music - the fastest growing sub genre of country.
The band performed in Kentucky - the home of bluegrass - on the eve of a starring role on the lavish Nu Country TV concert at the Arts Centre in Melbourne on Sunday January 30.
Davidson Brothers represented Australia at the prestige IMBA festival and visited Rosine - the birthplace of late bluegrass king Bill Monroe.

The lads also caught up with fellow expatriate young guns Keith Urban, Catherine Britt, Jedd Hughes and The Greencards during concerts in Nashville.

Hamish and Lachlan Davidson soaked up the soul of country music on their foray on Lower Broadway in Nashville where the ghost of pioneer Ernest Tubb and his famed midnight jamboree still lingers.
Hot pickers Hamish and Lachlan Davidson are promoting their new single "Where I Want To Be" - from their debut album.

THE DAVIDSON BROTHERS

The Davidson Brothers have been on the music circuit for around
seven years, and between them have lots of experience and a
slew of awards. Most recently, they became the “2003 Country
Entertainer of the Year” at the Tamworth Country Music Festival,
where they feature annually. The pair have performed with a
number of Australia’s top rating country artists (Lee Kernaghan,
Beccy Cole, Adam Harvey & Greg Champion), yet bluegrass will
always remain in their blood.

Hamish (20) and Lachlan (19) have assembled a group of
dedicated and motivated musicians to make up their band, with
influences spanning from Bluegrass, Old Timey, Cajun, Blues,
Western Swing and Rock. Laurie Grundy has been a strong
influence on the boys. He taught Hamish the banjo six years ago
and ignited the bluegrass flame in the Davidson household.
Although Laurie is a renowned banjo player, he is equally at
home on the bass, his first instrument. Laurie’s son Josh has
been turning heads with his mandolin playing over the last four
years, and allows his rock influences shine through his playing.

The Davidson Brothers have finished recording their new album,
"STAY ALL NIGHT," and are set to release it in October 2003.
Expect to hear some fresh bluegrass, western swing and blues.
