Tall Timbre

Ted Simpson, Mark Kirk and their band Tall Timbre have recently completed their second CD "After The Grind" due for release October 17th.

The first single "Swing That Axe" talks of Mark getting to know about his father's days as a timber getter near Glen Davis. The track perfectly captures Ted's voice and the easy listening yet driving Australian country sound of the band.

The work also brings together some of Australia's finest country musicians including Jake Lardot, Stuie French, Michel Rose, Mick Albec, Ian Lees, Glen Skarrat, Rudi Miranda, Mike Kerin, Nicki Gillis, as well as the Tall Timbre crew of Ted Simpson, Mark Kirk, Damien Odell, Dave Roberts, John Lee and Steve Shepherd.

Other songs on the CD are heavily influenced by Ted and Mark's life experiences in Australia and draw inspiration from areas as diverse as yearning for home when touring (Murrumbidgee Rolling), falling in love (Roads I Didn't Take) as well as tributes to Australian pioneers and shipwrecks. And what would any true country offering be without a few songs about lost love, closed rail lines, the plight of starving children and the ever popular country theme of ending it all.

Hi everyone,
Having almost recovered from a week living in Margaritaville (aka Tamworth), I have an opportunity to kick off the first Tall Timbre newsletter for 2007.
Here's the programme for February.
Firstly;
hope y'all can make it to the show on next Thursday 8th February.
We'll be previewing trax from our new album, some of which havn't yet been played to an unsuspecting public, so come along and be guinea pigs for the night........some feedback would be terrific!.

Tall Timbre will be in acoustic mode; Ted and I will be joined by Steve Shepard on bass and John Lee on fiddle.
The attached flyer has all the details.
Admission is free, the venue is fantastic and you can get a good meal before the show.

The weekly Barfly's jam night will be back soon. Sorry about the delay, but I think I'm ok to go with it again. The first night will probably be in early March, will advise soon. I hope all of you who supported it last year will come back again.

Yes, I know it's been 6 years, but the new album is almost ready !!!!!!!!!
Great line up of supporting musos......Jake Lardot, Ian Lees, Rudy Miranda, Michel Rose, Mike Kerin and some cameos from special guests.

We've recorded at Ben Robinson's studio in the mountains and the final mixes will be done starting February 12. There are 13 trax in all, including 4 covers, with songs by Jimmy Webb, Kevin Montgomery and Hunter & Suzy Owens, which we've tried to do a little outside of the original versions.
There will be a launch party, to which you're all invited; details released when the discs are in our hands.
look forward to seeing y'all soon.
