The Petersham Inn brings
music back to the hotel in Semi-Acoustic mode
The Petersham Inn now
fully restored to its art deco glory re-opened a few months ago.
In keeping with its heritage (once housing the Pismo Bar and
Max’s) the Petersham Inn is now bringing music back to the hotel
with semi-acoustic acts appearing every Friday from Friday 22
June between 8.30pm and 11.30pm – Free Entry.
Kicking off proceedings in the front bar on Friday 22nd of June

above par - and its damn good fun! Front bar larrikin, singer,
songwriter, storyteller, guitar, banjo, harp player and
stomp-box stomper Den Hanrahan is part honky tonk, part spinifex

Well the countdown's on... just a few more sleeps before all you
alt. country/roots music lovers out there will pack up your swags,
pile into your cars and head on down to O'Connell NSW for the
inaugural WINDMILL FESTIVAL!!
This Saturday promises to be an absolute cracker with an amazing
line-up of some of Australia's best country/roots acts, straight
from the Tamworth Country Music Festival. The event will be held
in the grounds of the historic O'Connell Hotel - just 20kms from
Bathurst.
Here are the details:
DEBUT ALBUM - RED DUST:
Firstly - Den's brand spanker debut album, RED DUST, is all
finished, packaged and ready to go!! It's an absolute gem folks,
so make sure you get yourself a copy if you haven't already got
one. It's available to buy online through www.stopnrock.com.au or
at one of Den's gigs. (Makes a great Chrissy pressie too!!)
RED DUST ALBUM LAUNCH: More BIG news - In January Den will be having an album
launch for RED DUST at the 2007 Tamworth Country Music Festival.
This is one gig you won't want to miss - we'll be filming it to

get your mug on the telly (well - that's the plan anyway!).
Hollywood here we come!! The gig is: Friday 26th Jan - 7pm at The
Albert Hotel, Tamworth. Forget the Golden Guitars - this is gonna
be THE event of the festival!
Keep an eye out for Den in the Dec. issue of Country Music Capital
News.
Well that's about it for now - stay tuned for further updates. In
the meantime check out
www.myspace.com/denhanrahan for all the latest.

- Hi everybody,
Just a short note to let everyone know that Nic gave birth to our
little Girl, Molly Rose, at 5.00am on the 29th of July 2005. She
was 2845 grams or 6lb 4oz. She is gorgeous and after a shakey
start she is now kicking butt!!! Y'all be good now.
DEN
Congratulations Nic and Den!!!

- It's been a busy start to the year and the shows since
Tamworth have been great. Firstly, Den went on tour with Canadian
songwriter extraordinaire, Shannon Lyon and with the help of the
amazing Karl Broadie had a fantastic show at Carrington House in
Bathurst and the following night at The Phoenix in Canberra.
Awesome!!
Den & Karl then headed off to Melbourne and regional Victoria for
a few cracker gigs at The Greyhound in St Kilda, The Grainery Lane
in Ballarat and The Crossing Cafe in Deniliquin. Returning to the
big smoke, Den was joined once again by his band for the first
time since Tamworth at the Excelsior in Surry Hills, Sydney, for a
couple of shows in Feb. Big thanks to the lads for that one.
He joined the bill for the first ever RED DUST FESTIVAL
(co-incidentally named after his own song 'Red Dust' from his EP)
at The Vanguard in Sydney's Newtown on the 25th Feb. It was a
great night with an incredibly talented line-up of Americana
country/roots songwriters, including Rod Picott(USA), Bill
Chambers, Den, Karl Broadie, Tim Ireland and Simon Bruce. The
always gorgeous Melanie Horsnell also made a guest appearance
which was a huge treat. What an amazing night - fantastic
musicians and great appreciative crowd.
During the Central Coast Country Music Festival, Den made a
surprise appearance at one of Bill Chamber's gigs when Bill asked
Den to get up and play a few numbers. Den had a ball playing with
some of Australia's leading country muso's. Much thanks to Bill
Chambers for the opportunity!! Not only an incredible musician and
songwriter but a great guy as well.
- Over the Easter break Den headed to the National Folk
Festival in Canberra where he played at The Stockman's Camp - a
great little venue that is a fairly new addition to the festival.
During the festival he also had the opportunity to play with some
amazing musicians, including a guest appearance with The Noodies.
He also had a few cracking sessions with a couple of the world's
leading bluegrass pickers - Mike Compton on Mandolin (from 'Oh
Brother Where Art Thou' fame), Bob Carlin on old time claw hammer
banjo (John Hartford band) and many local legends, including Andy
Baylor, Dougie Bull, Sam Martin, John Taylor, Jane Brownlee, Mark
Oates, Ed 'Caltex Star' Ratcliffe, and Ted 'The Reverend
Suitcase', among many others.

- Latest update on the
banjo twangin' hillbilly,
- DEN HANRAHAN...
Tis the season to be jolly...
So pop on those Santa hats with the flashing red pom-poms and come
down for a bit of hillbilly yuletide banjo twangin' with the
Aussiest hillbilly around -
DEN HANRAHAN!!
The bloke with the side-burns will be playing his last two Sydney
gigs for the year - so make sure you don't miss them.
This'll be the perfect opportunity for a bit of a Chrissy
get-together - hillbilly style of course!! (Moonshine not included
but dancing like nobody's watching encouraged...)
Den Hanrahan was born kicking and screaming and he’s not about to
change. His gutsy vocals and lively guitar playing are the
hallmarks of a misspent youth. His gigs are bold and upbeat; yet
maintain an intimacy with the audience.
His music is country rock born of one-night stands and roadhouses,
and he’s not afraid to take his audience along for the ride. He
has a 'straight-up' style, playing acoustic guitar, stomp-box,
lap-steel, harp & vocals and on the odd occasion he's even been
known to step into hillbilly heaven and bring out the banjo!
YEEHAA!!
- MORE INFO ON DEN
HANRAHAN...
January 2005 will see Den heading back to Tamworth for the 2005
Telstra Tamworth Country Music Festival. Once again Den will be
bringing his own style of stompin’ acoustic country roots music to
Australia’s country capital – this time with a full band! That’s
right, this festival will see Den accompanied by some of
Australia’s most talented country musicians, including Sean Rudd
on bass, Mal Lancaster on drums (both from Beccy Cole, Bella,
etc.) and Jane Brownlee returns on fiddle. And a very special
guest joining Den at one of his gigs this festival will be the
legendary, Bill Chambers!! Definitely not to be missed!!!
Returning from both the 2004 Telstra Tamworth Country Music
Festival, where he launched his debut EP (and promptly sold out!)
and then the CMAA Hats Off To Country Music Festival, Den has
repeatedly proved to be a hugely popular act.
The 2005 festival will also see Den launching his brand new EP
‘Whiskey and Cheap Wine’.
Den will have a couple of great support acts at the festival,
including the incredibly talented Canadian singer/songwriter,
Shannon Lyon. This will be Shannon’s first time at Tamworth and he
will no doubt be a huge hit of the festival. Also supporting Den
will be Scotsman, Karl Broadie. Returning to Tamworth from last
festival, Karl will, as always, leave audiences wanting to hear
more.
So do yourself a favour and make sure you check out Den Hanrahan’s
gigs at the 2005 Telstra Tamworth Country Music Festival!
DEBUT ALBUM OUT EARLY 2005
Den's getting very close to wrapping up in the studio where
he's been recording his debut full-length album. He and Michael
Roberts (producer extraordinaire) are looking at having the album
ready to launch early next year. Stay tuned for release dates.
A CANADIAN, AN AUSSIE & A SCOTSMEN HIT BATHURST!!

experiencing a feast of international roots/alt country music as
headlining act, Shannon Lyon (Canada) is supported by Den Hanrahan
(he's the Aussie obviously) and Karl Broadie (Scotland). They'll
be playing in one of the most gorgeous venue's in the NSW Central
West, Carrington House in Keppel St.

He’s played with everyone from Sourmash (bluegrass) to Saddlerash

his heartfelt originals, a few country standards and some obscure
pearlers!
Over the years Den has toured extensively, playing all over the
east coast of Australia - from the Sydney Football Stadium to the
Bowling Club in Lightning Ridge and virtually every town in
between. Whether it’s the Byron Bay Music and Arts Festival, the
Tamworth Country Music Festival or the Deniliquin Ute Muster,
Den’s performances have them lining up and begging for more.
FOR A HOLLERIN' GOOD TIME OF ROCKIN' ROOTS MUSIC...
Den's
been busy in the studio currently recording three projects, including
his long awaited debut solo EP; plus a collaborative album with the
incredibly talented alt. country lad Karl Broadie; PLUS a full length
solo album produced by highly acclaimed producer, Michael Roberts.
Stay tuned for release dates.
