Australia's ROYDEN DONOHUE - A New Star For The World Of Country Music
www.roydendonohue.com

NAMED 2005 TIARA AWARDS MALE VOCALIST OF THE YEAR - 2005 NATIONAL COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS BEST NEW TALENT OF THE YEAR - 2005 GOLDEN SADDLE AWARDS FINALIST

Royden Donohue is already a familiar name in Australian country music. Over the past few years, the 24-year-old has released no less than four independent albums — Born to be a Heartbreaker, Rope the Moon, Solitary Man and Kentucky Rain. He’s enjoyed considerable radio airplay, and gained the respect of the whole country music industry, as well as building a large and solid fan base around his home town of Nyngan in western New South Wales.

His third album, Rope the Moon, took him into the finals of the Australian Independent Country Music Awards in Mildura in 2000. He’s twice been a Star Maker grand finalist — in 1999 and 2000 — and graduated from the prestigious CMAA College of Country Music in 1999.

But during his time in the desert over the past couple of years, Royden came to the realisation that it was time to take the next step forward with his career. So he contacted award-winning producer Rod McCormack — who’s been responsible for the success of artists like Beccy Cole and Adam Harvey, amongst others — to produce his new single.

Royden was keen to capture the quality of his live performances on the new tracks. “I wanted songs that were positive, that reflected my musical style — which is influenced by people like Dwight Yoakam and Elvis — and that would appeal to a mixed audience,” he said.

Under Rod’s guidance, Royden selected three songs to record: “We’re Gone” “Call It What It Is” and “Is It Love?”

The songs are all pure country, and reflect Royden’s deep country roots as well as showcasing his powerful voice and dynamic style. “I’ve gone that extra step with these songs, and given them everything I’ve got. Working with Rod has made the world of difference, and I’m really happy with the result,” Royden said.

The catchy single “We’re Gone” is extremely radio friendly – and was a Top 20 hit on the Australian charts.

'WE’RE GONE’ - Royden Donohue
The clip - featured on CMC & Rage - reads like a movie.
Synopsis
‘We’re Gone’ the clip, plays like a back block soap opera movie. Luke (Royden Donohue) could have married Gretchen Wilson…..if he’d met her at the local van park….but he didn’t….. he met Jodee (Emma Darcy) instead, a sexy, tough as nails ball breaker from the wrong side of the tracks. Marriage seemed fine till Jodee got bored…… and started eying off the big house on the other side of town……..

While Luke was out…Jodee decided to move out and into that big house on the right side of the tracks. Luke’s a good bloke and seems cut up about Jodee’s doing the bunk…..he’s all alone in the house with the ghost of Jodee dancing the ‘dance of the seven veils’ before his eyes….while she hitchhikes to her new life…..but what ever Luke’s parting words to Jodee were….they send her ballistic and into a wild wanton frenzy on his treasured V8…..Poor Luke…..but guess what……the sting in the tail……he never loved her!

ROYDEN
SOLITARY MAN
ON TOUR
Determination, talent and musical savvy are the ingredients that will see Royden
Donohue make his mark on the Australian music scene in the coming years.
This young man, from Nyngan in Central NSW, has earned a solid reputation since he
began singing in talent quests when he was just 15 years old in 1996.
Royden has a compelling background in country music, citing Jim Reeves, Neil Diamond
and Elvis as major influences, although he is certainly carving out a unique place for
himself with his many club, pub and festival appearances.

1998 saw the release of Royden's first album and the following year he received
extensive national radio exposure with the title song, Born To Be A Heartbreaker.

1999 also saw Royden in the finals list for the prestigious Toyota Star Maker Quest in
Tamworth, where he was a certain crowd pleaser, earning a top ten, grand finalist
spot - a feat he repeated again in 2000.

He is a graduate of the acclaimed Country Music Association of  Australia College of
Country Music - an experience that he says has made him a more rounded performer
and given him further incentive to achieve his dreams.

In March 2001 Royden released his 2nd Album (Rope the moon) . Royden's career soon took off as he was chosen to
tour with the Brian Young Shows 25th Anniversary tour. The show toured around Australia extensively for 4 months, playing in
major clubs  remote Aboriginal communities, and rodeos .

2002 he also toured with the Brian Young Show extensively through out Australia.

His third release, No Time At All, saw Royden in the finalists lists for the 2000
Australian Independent Country Music Awards in Mildura. Since then his popularity has
soared and he has forged a credible reputation for himself on the professional club
and festival scenes. He has become a "must see" attraction at the famous Tamworth
Country Music Festival every January, playing at such venues as the famous Locomotive Hotel
Tamworth R.S.L and West leagues Club

Now with four big selling, self released albums to his name, a natural talent to deliver
the goods and the desire to become "a star"
Royden hit's the Road with the "Royden Donohue  Solitary Man Tour"
playing at selected venues leading  up to the 2003 Tamworth country music festival.
With a brand new album release (KENTUCKY RAIN)
, Royden Donohue is destined to be
someone to watch out for now and into the future.
