TANGLEWOOD GUITARS ANNOUNCE HARLEY SMITH SPONSORSHIP
May 2006
Sixteen years ago “Tanglewood Guitars” were designed and developed in England and quickly earned a reputation for excellent value and sound in the competitive guitar sweepstakes and today Tanglewood is one of the highest-selling and sort after acoustic-guitar brands in Europe.

Now National Music the Queensland based importer for this fine brand of guitars, plus banjos, mandolins, basses, resonators, drums, cymbals, PA equipment and amplifiers has contracted Harley Smith to promote their range of Tanglewood guitars in Australia. Presenting Harley with a brand new TW55 model which includes an endorsement to represent DR Strings and G7 Capos, Tanglewood’s Don Morrison said:

“The company is very excited about this new arrangement with Harley as we consider her one of the new up and coming artists in her field and the association of this wonderful instrument with Harley’s obvious talents is a natural blend”.

Recently married to musician Anthony Walmsley, Harley will soon re-locate to the Central Coast from her current base in Lismore. A writing collaboration with one of Nashville’s best, David Lee Murphy, has fired up this dynamic performer to focus on songwriting for her upcoming album.

Harley has been invited to appear with Brian Cadd and Rick Price on the “Brian Cadd - 40th Anniversary Concert Tour” through Victoria during June. This tour, along with her regular gigs and major Festivals commitments will keep Harley very busy for the rest of the year.

“I’m delighted to be representing Tanglewood in Australia and just love the sound I’m getting whilst working live” said Harley “it’s great to have such a diverse range of guitars available in this market and I’m proud to be working with this great brand”.

CURRENT SINGLE "In The Dark" NFS 102

2005 has been an amazing year for Harley Smith with her single “Yeah Right” finishing as Number 4 on the CMR National chart and as Number 1 on the Hot FM Top 100.

“Yeah Right” has spent over three months in the National Top 30 – a huge achievement and a sign of things to some for this talented artist

Harley kicks off the New Year 2006 in top gear with a stack of performances during the Tamworth Country Music Festival at the Fitzroy Tavern, West Diggers, and FanFest plus the “Opening Concert” in the Bicentennial Park. On January 26th, she will fly down to Sydney to appear as part of the annual “Country Rocks The City” celebrations at The Rocks and then back to Tamworth for the “Australia Day Concert” again in Bicentennial Park. In addition Harley can be seen as the support for Bobby Cash at WTL Blazes –
a truly epic ten days of live appearances.

On top of this, January sees the release of Harley’s new single “In the Dark” written by Kevin Bennett and again produced by Garth Porter and supported by a fantastic new video clip produced by award winning director Ross Wood.

Following The Tamworth Country Music Festival Harley will be working extensively in and around New South Wales promoting the new single as well as spending time writing with some of her contemporaries such as Garth Porter, Mike Carr, Mark O’Shea and Kevin Bennett on songs for her debut album which is scheduled for release late 2006.

One thing is for sure in 2006 …

Although Harley’s new single may be called “In The Dark”
her career will certainly not be !!
