Jonah's Road had a fabulous time at the 2006 Deni Ute Muster.
Warmup gigs at the Welcome to Deni concert in the park on Thursday
28th September and on the Day Stage at the Muster on Friday 29th
included a special appearance by the giant people swaying along to
Long Way Home (see picture) . Friday night Jonah's Road made their
Main Stage debut which was huge. Playing to a few hundred people at
the start of the show quickly became several thousand as the Jonah's
Road sound drew the crowds in. Jay, John & Rod were joined on stage
by the legendary Glenn Wilson on drums and they showed why they are
one of the hottest acts in country at the moment. Great performances
followed by Harley Smith, The Flood, Melinda Schneider and the
awesome Daddy Cool to finish off a fantastic opening night. Thanks
to Chris and everyone involved in the 2006 Deni Ute Muster for their
wonderful hospitality and support. Look forward to seeing you again
next year.
Mud Bulls & Music

The 2006 Mud Bulls & Music Festival was another highlight for
Jonah's Road with gigs at the Bar Stage on Thursday 2nd followed by
a Main Stage show on Friday 3rd November. With a mixture of old
favourites, popular covers and songs from the new album, the Jonah's
Road gigs were well received by the rowdy crowd. Special thanks to
the Giddy Up girls (and hobby horses) for your ongoing support. See
the Jonah's Road MYSPACE site
www.myspace.com/jonahsroad for video footage from the
Jonah's Road Main Stage gig at Mud Bulls featuring one of the new
songs Giddy Up. Thanks to everyone involved in hosting Mud Bulls for
putting on a great festival.
Flying Doctors concert DVD
In a completely new experience for the band, Jonah's Road
performed with a full orchestra and choir as part of a fundraising
concert for the Royal Flying Doctor Service in July 2006. The dvd
from the concert will be available for sale soon to raise additional
funds for the RFDS.
Presented by a plethora of young Australian performers, the
musically diverse program rejoices in what it means to be
Australian, as typified by the Flying Doctors. The Royal Flying
Doctor Service is extremely grateful to the artists involved and
especially to the Chairman of The Friends of the RFDS Mr Michael
Crouch AO, whose company Zip Industries sponsored the concert.
Jonah's Road featured in two songs in the concert - their classic
ballad Long Way Home and a song written for the concert called Fly
To You which was sung as a duet by Jay Collie and the fabulous
Hayley Jensen (
www.hayleyjensen.com.au ). More details in the next
newsletter about the DVD.

Jonah's Road win Best Group Award
at the 2006 TIARAS
Jonah's Road has won the
Best Group Award for their song Missing You at the 2006 Tamworth
Independent Artist Recognition Awards (TIARAs). The award was
announced at the Tamworth Regional Entertainment Centre and caps off
a fantastic year for the band.
Jay, John & Rodney accepted the award and then before leaving the
stage they were asked to do an impromptu performance. They borrowed
guitars from the house band and performed a semi-acoustic version of
Missing You live on stage. The tight vocal harmonies in the live
performance left the audience in no doubt that they were deserving
winners of the Best Group award.
Jonah's Road are in Tamworth for the country music festival and have
20 gigs over 12 days so are keeping very busy. Good crowds, lots of
new fans and shows at great venues have contributed to a very
successful festival so far.
The response to the new original songs including the brand new
single Why Does She Love Me is fantastic so look out for big things
from this band in 2006.

Jonah's Road Win Best Country
Album in US Indie Awards Dec 16th 2005
Sydney based country pop band Jonah's
Road have won the Best Country Album in the 2006 US Independent
Music Awards for their debut album Hold On. Jay, John & Rodney are
very excited about this award and are looking forward to making use
of the opportunities it will create in 2006.
Martin Folkman & Lauren Veteri from the Music Resource Group said:
"The Independent Music Awards draws entries from artists and bands
around the world who create, record and market music without the
benefit of access to major media channels, a restriction that places
special demands and challenges on these fine artists' abilities.
Among the program benefits IMA winners receive is access to tools
that can help them market, manage, promote and build their careers.
Selected from thousands of CDs and electronic submissions, the
winners of this year's IMA awards represent a vital source of
inspiration and spirit for all who make and appreciate music.
The judging panel included a distinguished group of artists and
industry professionals Norah Jones, Melissa Etheridge, Joe Perry,
Bill Wyman, George Clinton, Jonathan Brooke, Chris Thile, Paquito
D'Rivera, Sara Lee, Hubert Sumlin, Abby White, Alexandra Patsavas,
Robert Goodale, Melinda Newman & Dan Storper.
An online jukebox and full list of winners will be available soon in
the Independent Music Awards area on the Musicians Atlas website
www.musiciansatlas.com
"
This award caps off a fabulous year for Jonah's Road which has
included winning the Best Independent Release at the 2005 National
Country Music Awards in February for their debut single Getting By
Without You, nomination for 2 Golden Guitar Awards in 2005 for Best
New Talent and Best Vocal Group/ Duo, a TIARA Top 5 nomination for
Best Group/ Duo in 2005 and 2006 and a Top 10 Golden Guitar
nomination for Best Album in 2005 .
The writers of the first Jonah's Road single, Getting By Without You
(Jay Collie, John Kater & Jasper Somerville-Collie) were also
nominated in the Top 12 of the Country section of the 2005
International Songwriting Competition. In a quirky addition, a
translated cover version of Getting By Without You has just been
recorded by Slovakian Pop Idol Superstar Martin Kelescenyi and will
be released by Sony/BMG in Europe in the coming months.
Jonah's Road has recently secured endorsement deals with Fender and
Sennheiser and Jay has just returned from a successful business trip
to Nashville where he established great contacts and introduced some
key industry players to the music of Jonah's Road.
The guys have been busy writing for their second album and the first
single will be available in time for the Tamworth country music
festival in January. They have a very busy schedule at the festival
and there will be plenty of opportunity for fans to see them play
live. See www.jonahsroad.com
for full details of all gigs.
With the release of their second album and plans for plenty of live
work and a trip to Nashville, Jay, John & Rodney are looking forward
to a very exciting year ahead.

Update from Jay
Hey there all. Well its certainly been a hectic few months. Firstly
I'd like to say thanx to everyone who was at Gympie 05. As a
songwriter, to look into a crowd and see you all singing along
(knowing the words better than I do sometimes !-) is just the most
amazing feeling I've ever had and add to that all the new toys we
got to play with from Sennheiser and Fender...well it was the most
incredible week and thankyou so much for being a part of that with
us.
Trying to finish off the music for New McDonalds Farm (the Ch9 kids
show I do the music for) and do Gympie at the same time proved a
little challenging but I'm still here and what doesn't kill you.....
also thanx to everyone who has signed the guest book recently too.
All the feedback from Gympie was awesome and it's always gratifying
to know other people had as much fun as we did.
The I.C.M.As at Mildura were last Saturday night and although I'm as
disappointed as some of you obviously were that we didn't end up
winners on the night , I'd like to say big congratulations to Tracy
Coster and James Blundell who picked up Album of the Year and Single
of the Year respectively, and my college of country music alumni
Shelly Evans who was awarded Rising Female Star.
I'm off to Nashville on the 15th for 2 weeks so if anyone knows
anyone I can stay with that would be awesome!-) Seriously tho I
really can't wait and lookout for photos of the trip in the photos
section of the website cause I'll post them there as soon as I'm
back.
It's all full steam ahead to Tamworth now for me and the boys. After
the Muster and all the fun we had I just can't wait and even tho
it's still 4 months away I know it'll be here b4 any of us know
it...which is tops cause that means I'll see u really soon!)
In the meantime we'll be spending our time writing so look out for
our first single off our next album which will be available on our
'06 limited edition Tamworth only release CD'. Have a fantastic
finish to 05. Good luck and best wishes to everyone who has exams
and safe, happy keeping for us all till next we meet.
Peace. J
