Kim, 19, has just finished recording her debut
album with The Flood singer Kevin Bennett.
Bennett swapped songwriting ideas with Kim and
was driven to write with her.
"She's a helluva singer, is a natural songwriter, and I think she
has a good attitude about the music business," says Kevin.
"Kim is there for the music which I think is refreshing in a young
person."
MacKenzie is managed by acclaimed Queensland photo-journalist John
Elliott whose Thousand Mile Stare exhibition runs at National
Portrait Gallery in Canberra until April 10, 2005.
"Rural themes are not where I'm heading with my
music, so I don't feel inclined to write about them," revealed Kim
who received vocal coaching from Bella's Lyn Bowtell.
"I like my music rootsy and grungy, songs with soul that are fun
to sing and play."
MacKenzie finished recording and plans to release her disc early
