Gully-Raker
Martin Oakes, a final 5 finalist in last years Golden Guitar Awards, has finally released the hilarious and insightful “WHEN A BLOKE GETS MARRIED”, as a single on the latest NFS CD, Track number 14. It’s the most popular song at Martin’s live gigs. The anthem for married Aussie blokes, has attracted some of the loudest laughs from the ladies in the audience ! Martin swears the song is not from his own experience, he reckons he heard the stories from his mates !

Also due for immediate release, is an outrageous video clip for the track.

Filmed, Directed and Produced by Ben Skinner and assisted by Lindsay Fraser, whose credits include ABC’s Heart Of Country & Lee Kernaghan’s “The Way it is”, the video features an unlikely couple demonstrating the comical side of their relationship, with Martin showing off his talents as “the vicar”, and the “bartender”, as well as ‘narrating’ the events.

A hectic 2 days were spent filming the clip, and it was a laugh a minute, with the humour of marriage being brought to life by the 2 most unlikely characters, assisted by a bunch of local budding actors.

Martin recently had a great time away from the property to attend the Gympie Muster, where he shared the stage with good mate Tom Curtain, with whom Martin co-wrote Tom’s current #4 hit “The Windmill Song”.

It was then back to Martin’s old stomping ground of Kempsey for the annual Country Music Festival where he performed before the locals, which included family & many old friends.

He also had the honour of performing with Anne Kirkpatrick recently at the Toronto Workers Club.

December the 4th will see Martin back in Queensland to perform with Tom Curtain once again at the annual Dalby Stockhorse Sale, a gig they are both looking forward to.

Then of course it’s back to Tamworth in January for THE festival.
Martin has some funny yarns to tell about the clip and can be contacted on the details below for any interviews.

Well it’s finally out there! The long awaited release of the video clip of CLEANSKIN CATTLE. All of the footage was taken by Martin while working in the Territory. It’s chock a block full of action, and demonstrates another talent of this remarkable singer/songwriter. From awesome helicopter footage, working cattle with the rotor blades ducking and weaving a few metres above their heads, and amazing shots from the chopper capturing a vortex of dust sweeping across the ground, to other hair raising moments mustering cleanskin cattle. You may even take a step back as a Cleanskin bull charges the rails of the yards, straight at the intrepid cameraman! Keep an eye out for it.

CLEANSKIN CATTLE and GULLY-RAKER continue to gather momentum on the airwaves, and Martin is still receiving numerous emails of praise, including one recently from France.

Martin has been doing countless interviews over the phone and also travelled to Newcastle and Sydney on several occasions to do live to air studio interviews.

Martin has his nominations in for the Golden Guitar awards and is gearing up for Tamworth. He will be support act for 2 of Sara Storer’s shows. Martin will be showcasing his music as part of “Toyota Hot Properties” a new FanFest Event at the Toyota Country Theatre on Thursday 22nd Jan @ 2pm as well as many other gigs. He is really looking forward to getting face to face with his fans. Martin has also secured a regular spot for busking so he can really get out there amongst the people.

When not putting together his video or promoting GULLY-RAKER, Martin has been busy on the property, and how the seasons change. From feeding cattle this time last year to actually making hay this time round.

All the best for Christmas, and hope to see you all in Tamworth.
