My album will be released here in America around November 19th and hopefully
it will be in stores in Australia sometime before Christmas.
If you would like to hear the single you can go to this site:

And check it out!
Hope this finds you well and busy... I still love your site! Thanks so much
for your support.

Hi Helen!
It has been a LONG time!!!!! Lots of exciting things happening for me... I
am still in America and as I write this I am mixing my debut album, which
should be out in American stores September/October. My first single is
almost ready to hit the radio (In America should be around September
1st)...which is really exciting!!!!! I have a few special guests on the
album....one of which I KNOW you are familiar with!

I am opening for the best band in the world...none other than "The
Greencards" on September 8th in Nashville at the Music Down Under Festival,
plus I have gigs on the 9th at the same festival, then the 10th at 3rd &
Lindsay..all in Nashville...so I'm really looking forward to that.

Then straight from Nashville, I head on out to LA, to fly home for some of
the Mildura Country Music Festival.........it really is going to be so great
to be home for 15 days, especially since I haven't been home in over a
year...to catch up with family and friends, what better way to do it than
the Mildura Country Music Festival!!!!

I fly out of Australia on September 29th, have a few days off, then October
2nd I fly out to Dallas TX, to start my radio tour...from Dallas, we are
heading to Waco TX, Austin TX, Houston TX and all towns in between, then we
dart off to Midland TX, Odessa TX, El Paso TX....and again, all towns in
between after that stint we fly to Oklahoma and tour radio stations there.

A busy, yet exciting few months coming up for me and I am sooo ready!!!!
Take Care....and I hope you like the new pic!
Love
Megan

Hey!!! I had the most awesome experience in Nashville...it was even better
than I had expected!!! My flight arrived and I was greeted by fellow Aussies
Jedd Hughes and Mik McCartin, then we all headed to the "Mercury Lounge"
where Jedd had rehearsals with Patty Loveless for a Sony Showcase later that
night, I was so stoked when "the" Patty Loveless walked through the
door...this Aussie chick was a little star struck!!!!. Afterwards we took a
drive down Music Row, it was so weird seeing the buildings where all the
"big" labels live! It was so awesome. Next it was to "The Batchelor Pad"..ha
ha, Jedd and Mik's new house, which has the best view of Nashville ever, not
much furniture yet....however, it's an amazing house!

The Mercury Lounge gig was brilliant. Some of the artists on the show were,
Gretchen Wilson and Jessi Alexander, they both had some great songs...but
Patty's set was nothing short of amazing! And Jedd played awesome! I got to
hang out with Alesha, who is with Patty's management, Jami and Cali Rolles,
who is a former student of South Plains College....it's such a small world.
After the gig some of us headed down to a bar on Broadway, they were playing
some great Country Music down there!

The next day, I was lucky enough to meet David from MCA records (he leant
Jedd a gorgeous Gretsch guitar...it's beautiful!!!!) and the rest of the day
I spent walking around Nashville and doing a little shopping, Mik was
practising for Jedds gig and Jedd was at the Opry rehearsing for that nights
show....and before I new it I was off to the "Ryman Auditorium" the original
home of the "Grand Ole Opry" and inside it is just beautiful and totally
packed out with Country Music Fans.  I was lucky enough to see the Del
McCoury Band, Stonewall Jackson, Patty Loveless and a host of others.  After
the show, I actually went back stage, which was unbelievable, all these
people that I listen to on the radio were standing near by!!! Jedd and I
headed up to Patty's room where I got to have a little chat with her and
have my picture with her....nicest lady!  We headed out of the Ryman and Jedd
got to sign a few autographs!!! We then headed to a little bar called "The
Sutlers" where Pat Buchanan was playing...an absolutely fantastic
singer/songwriter and I am so disappointed that we only caught 5 or 6 songs,
they were worth going there for!  At that bar I also caught up with a few
former South Plains College students there too. After that we wound down at
a little Irish Pub and then home.

So that was two days in Nashville! It was so awesome and I can't wait to get
back there!!  If anyone is in Nashville and would like to check out what's
going to be the best show in town, go to 12th & Porter, Tuesday 2nd March
(Tomorrow) and you can see Jedd rocking the house and Mik on the drums for
him!!

Also, Thursday Nite Live will be aired and you can watch it on the net at
this address
http://www.southplainscollege.edu/spctv/streaming.htm
Then click on the link that says watch SPCTV live
for the Aussies, you guys will need to log on at 12.30 noon on Friday 5th
March
and the US, it starts at 7.30pm Thursday 4th March...check it out, I am
really excited about the show.

Well....I'm pretty sure that's it for this week!
Cheers
Megan

Still having an awesome time here in Texas!!!

Last week, Thursday Nite Live had our first public performance at the Home
Coming Dinner and I guess I was a little nervous, but the show went off
really well and our live to air show on Thursday March 4th is going to be an
absolute scorcher so, if you can, check it out on the web at
http://www.southplainscollege.edu/spctv/   ..show time here in Texas will be
7.30pm, I am not sure what time you guys in Australia will have to log on to
catch it though.

Last Saturday Night I was thrilled to be invited to sit in on a gig with
some of my tutors; Steve Williams (pictured with me), Cary Banks and their
band. It was an awesome gig 15 minutes out of Lubbock at a little community
called "Slayton". It was so great to play some good old Country songs!
However everyone here in Texas loves Country Music, I guess thats why I fit
in so well...they also love the Aussie accent..maybe that also has something
to do with it!!

Well, last day of classes yet again and another weekend full of awesome
Country Music awaits me.. So until next time, Take Care and I'll talk to you
soon!
Cheers
Megan

Hi Helen,

Just keeping you up to date with what is happening in the States! Things are
so busy and so exciting!! This week I have been
into the college recording studio's recording some vocal tracks for a friend
who is in an audio engineering class, Tuesdays are always Thursday Nite Live
rehearsal and it's going to be an awesome show...March 4th it airs from the
Tom T Hall studio. This Thursday, the TNL team are performing for the
"Homecoming Banquet" and I get to start the show, which will be a blast.
Friday morning we are also playing at "Senior Sneak", which is for a
prospective High School Seniors looking at coming to SPC next semester.
Saturday I have been invited to "sit in" on
a gig with some of my tutors....Cary Banks (who is my TNL director), Steve
Williams (my fantastic guitar tutor!) and their band in Lubbock, which I am
really excited about, because they fabulous musicians.

Well, that's all for this week, the picture attached is me "studying" hard
in
my dorm!!

I have been checking out the Tamfest pics and they
are great. It looks like it was another successful festival. I have just
looked out my window and it is snowing here in Texas, yet again...and it is
19 degrees, (32 = 0 for us Aussies, which means it is way below freezing!!!)

Hope all is well back home!
Cheers
Megan

MEGAN LAURIE (from CMAA)
MEGAN LAURIE, a 1999 graduate of the CMAA College of Australian Country Music in Tamworth, heads off to South Plains College in Levelland, Texas, in January to further her education in country music.

"It has been my goal for the last few years and will enable me the opportunity to study under the guidance of some of the most respected tutors in country music," Megan said.

A three times winner of the annual "Star Search" competition held at the Coomealla Club in Dareton (a well known venue of artists attending the annual Mildura Country Music Festival) and winner of the Trans Tasman Entertainer of the Year title in 2002, Megan joins other Australians such as Kym Warner and Jedd Hughes to seek out the tuition offered by the College.

The generous support of the Coomealla Club in sponsoring the on-campus costs to attend the College is greatly appreciated by Megan. In a statement issued today, she said: "I feel very honoured that the Coomealla Club are supporting me in this project.

"It reflects their commitment to both country music and local individuals. The Spring Semester begins on January 13, and I am looking forward to having the opportunity to undertake full time studies in vocal technique, guitar, songwriting, arranging, performance and production, which are all subjects offered by the Commercial Music Course at the College."
