Hello friends, Just back from a week at Marybourough, Qld, tutoring at their
annual artsfest. These kind of events are the closest thing we have in
Australia to the Oguitar campı concept, and are to be encouraged. Great fun
had by all, pickinı and a grinninı all day long with a group of like-minded
enthusiastic individuals! Regular readers would know that for the past 6 years I have been
running a 1-week guitar course at Grafton, as part of their annual
artsfest. Due to overseas commitments, I wonıt be conducting the course this
year, but my good friend Jason McGregor <http://people.aapt.net.au/~jodyandjason/>
will take over the tutor role. Jason is an exceptional player &
experienced teacher. Speaking of Jason, he has been responsible for putting together
the notation for my new song folio. Gruelling work, but he has done a
wonderful job. I think he knows my tunes better than me! The book Michael Fix
Noted! should be available mid-August. Iım still fine-tuning tracks for my new CD, also to be released
in August. Title is Rewind and itıs a look back at my 15-year solo
recording career, featuring new recordings of tracks from all eight releases, from
1991 to 2005. This CD will be released locally through Fret Music, and internationally on the prestigious German label Acoustic Music.
(The next e-news will have more details).
The other piece of news to share is that I was recently awarded
³Artist of 2007² at the Mt Beauty Music Festival. This award is decided by
popular vote, so Iım particularly pleased to have received this! The Hat Trick <http://www.hattrickmusic.com.au/>
reunion shows are getting bigger every time, & we have listened to your suggestions to
³find a bigger venue² so we are pleased to announce another concert, Sunday
August 12 at the newly refurbished Bald Faced Stag Hotel in Leichhardt.

Hello friends, and welcome to the first
2007 edition of my enews. Yes, itıs
been a few months since the last note, I know!
Iıve had a bit of a break from touring. Well, apart from
appearances at
Music by the Sea (Qld), Tumbafest (NSW), and Port Fairy Folk
Festival (Vic)
with Hat Trick. All fantastic events. Hat Trick at Port Fairy
was a
highlight, with wildly enthusiastic audiences, bringing back
memories of the
Oolden daysı - 1980s - when we last performed together on a
regular basis.
Iıve been hard at work in the studio writing and producing
tracks for use on
various TV programs, as well as co-writing songs every style
from jazz,
blues, country and rock. Also working on my own new CD planned
for mid-2007
release on a major German record label.
A songbook is in the pipeline, and plans for a major Europe tour
(later this
year) are progressing well.

Hello friends, and welcome to the final
2006 international edition of my

Iıd like to take the opportunity to thank you for the support

me over the past 12 months. Itıs been a fantastic year, Iıve

new cities & towns, met many of you along the way, and have
formed many
special friendships.
Iım taking a break from touring till February. Iım spending some
time at
home, working on some recording projects, including my own new
CD planned
for mid-2007 release.
A songbook is also in the pipeline, as are plans for more Europe

year.
Last night I attended the Brisbane launch of a new short film
The Music
Recommenders <http://www.nokia.com/A4136001?newsid=1077784>
directed by
acclaimed filmmaker Wim Wenders <http://www.wim-wenders.com/>
(Paris,
Texas) and narrated by David Bowie.
Featured in the film are my good friends Ron & Rosie Adsett from
the Country
Music Store <http://store.countrymusic.com.au/>
(Charlotte St, Brisbane),
who have been supporters of Indie artists like myself for many
years.
Thereıs also some footage of Australian icon Jimmy Little
<http://www.jimmylittle.com.au/>
, which was shot in studio.
Keep an eye out for it a must for music lovers.
Also a personal thanks and public acknowledgement of some people
who are
instrumental in my career (small pun intended!) These folks
support and
encourage, and their contribution to my career is much
appreciated:

Hello
friends, and welcome to another international edition of my
enews.
Iım just back from my Italy/Germany tour, another
fantastic trip filled with
wine, food, great company, and somewhere amongst all that, some
music was
played!
Many highlights: sell-out concerts in Wuppertal, Rietberg and
Udine, a
packed house concert in a vet surgery in Dortmund, (with
operating theatre
lights providing suitable ambience), watching my friend Jason
McGregor (my
guest at a number of shows) blossom into a confident (and
occasionally
multi-lingual) performer.
Check out Jasons entertaining tour blog at his myspace site:
http://www.myspace.com/jasonmcgregormusic
While we were in Milan, we were filmed and interviewed by
Alberto Biraghi, a
leading music journalist, who amongst other things, hosts Italys
largest
guitar web site, as well as a blog site. You can see us here:

You can also find and interview I did with Australian journalist

Coming up: Iım especially looking forward to our Bi-annual Hat
Trick reunion
concert, this is our Christmas concert with a few surprises.
Have you seen
the Hat Trick web site?
http://www.hattrickmusic.com.au/
If you click through to Ogalleryı and Oband historyı youıll find
pages of
hysterical, I mean historical pictures of, ummS.colourful
shirts, and
classic 80s hairstyles. HmmS maybe better not to look!
Itıs been an incredibly busy year, and Iım going to take some
time off the
road to spend with family, and work on some new recording
projects, so these
are my last shows for 2006:
-
Hello again, and a special Ohalloı and
Ociaoı to German and Italian readers!
Iım just days away from heading to Europe to play a series of

Once in Europe, Iıll be meeting up with a fantastic young
guitarist; Jason

me, and I
really believe he is a major talent in the guitar world.
My profile on myspace has attracted some interest, and personal

- Hi again,
Its been a busy month completing album projects, finalizing tours
for the latter part of the year, and preparing for my trip to
Europe.
Details below
- Hi everyone,
Im back from my Europe tour. It was, as always, fantastic and
inspiring. I make new friends, learn a bit more Italian, visit
incredible cities and play in some amazing concert venues.
Still, its great to be back home.
Exciting concert event in Sydney; Harp Hotel, 900 Princes Hwy
Tempe with another Hat Trick re-union, this time were launching a
CD Hat Trick- a retrospective.
For those who dont know, I was a member of this band in the 80s.
A snippet from our press release:
Over the years 1982-1991 that the band worked full-time in the
Sydney music scene, many tried to categorise them. Words like
eclectic, classical/rock, folk/rock still were not able to capture
the bands essence.
With a twin-violin assault, and a rocknroll rhythm section, Hat
Trick created an exciting and joyous sound by drawing on songs by
Celtic folk-rockers Steeleye Span, and Fairport Convention,
original rocked up arrangements of Classical chartbusters
(Mozart, Beethoven, Bach et al), 80s fusion/classical group Sky,
as well as bluegrass standards and original songs, all delivered
with a healthy dose of humour.
We didnt think in terms of genre or categories. All we knew was
that we were having an immense amount of fun doing whatever it was
that kept the crowds coming back.
