Newcastle artist Nick Cesta received a huge surprise this
morning when he opened his emails and learnt that he made the first
round nominations of the prestigious European ECMA Male Vocalist of
the Year awards. The biggest surprise however was the who's who on the
list.
Nick is one of only two Australian artists who made the initial
nominations. Keith Urban is the other.
Nick's response to all the excitement has been generally laidback. "I
can't believe that what started out as releasing a single could have
such an impact on listening audiences."
"I was excited when How Did Your Love Slip Through My Hands was the
powerplay hit of the week and made no 3 on the Top 100 Charts last
year when it was first released. To make this nomination round is
unbelievably surprising."
"To see your name beside Keith Urban’s is unexpected enough but to see
other names on the list like Jerry Reed Mark Chestnutt Rascal Flatts
Billy Yates and Todd Fritsch is even more amazing and you know the
competition is tough."
The first round nominations are:
Troy Cook Jr.
Roy Rivers
Todd Fritsch
Arly Karlsen
Billy Yates
Lonnie Spiker
Andrew Dean
Patrick Glenn
Keith Urban
Mark Chesnutt
Toby Keith
Rascal Flatts
Jerry Reed
Nick Cesta
Mike Lee
Rick Stancil
Tommy The UK Cowboy
Mike Clifford
Brad Kepler
John Byron Haynie
"While I'm optimistic and I'm happy to be considered in the company I
think it would be unlikely that I would progress further. It's good
stuff though and I'm stoked."
The Awards presentation will be held on June 24 2006 in Palafrugell
Costa Brava Spain.
