MITTAGONG RSL ACOUSTIC COUNTRY SHOWCASE - 5/5/2007
This Saturday, May 5th, the Mittagong RSL Acoustic Showcase features two of Australia’s young up-and-comers in the Music Industry, in ALEYCE SYMMONDS and AARON BOLTON.  Click here Aaron Bolton Artist Report

Aleyce has recently signed with Australia's leading record label, Sony BMG, and is currently working on an album to be released later this year. In 2005 she won the prestigious Telstra Road to Tamworth Talent Quest, shooting her to national prominence. Aleyce’s 4 track EP 'Mighty Mighty Love' reached No.1 on the country music channel's most requested clips chart, and also reached No.4 on the National country radio charts. She is one of the classiest acts in the industry with a voice of the purest quality, and has been described as having "the voice of an angel". The depth and maturity of Aleyce’s voice is quite amazing in someone so young.

Aaron Bolton is a 22-year-old singer who hails from Canberra, now based in Tamworth. He fronts leading Tamworth band, ‘The Rockerfellas’ and released his debut single ‘Rocking Up’ in January this year. Aaron has toured with Golden Guitar winners Brendon Walmsley, Mike Carr and Jim Haynes, with his strong voice and his wit and charm appealing to the young and young at heart. Recognising his potential, Joan Douglas signed Aaron to The Pub Management as an artist in development. He has since been steadily working on crafting his career, furthering his songwriting and musical skills to match that great big voice of his that is the envy of many a country artist.

Don’t miss this opportunity to catch two of Australia’s emerging acts, to be able to say, “I saw them before they were famous.”
The Mittagong RSL Acoustic Showcase commences at 8:00 pm in the Lounge Bar, and entry is free.

A ‘dream’ run for Aleyce Simmonds
Winning Duet of the Year at the 16th Annual Victorian and National Country Music Awards with Paul Costa for The Way You Make Me Feel was a dream start to 2007 for Aleyce Simmonds. For the past 12 months Aleyce has been songwriting and preparing for her first album with producer and mentor Rod McCormack and his Golden Guitar-winning wife, Gina Jeffreys. This was another “dream come true” for Aleyce, as it was Gina who first inspired the classically trained vocalist to sing country music. “Gina was always my idol as a little girl, and I never dreamt I would be in a position where she is now my mentor and friend,” Aleyce said. “Another dream came true for me when Gina invited me on stage to sing Two Stars Fell, as this was the first country song I ever sang.” Aleyce has now moved to the Central Coast to be closer to her friends and mentors, in preparation for the album project. “Winning the award with Paul was really special,” Aleyce said. “When he invited me to record the song with him I was quite flattered, as this is the only song on his new album that is done as a duet.” Winning the duet award at the awards was a real highlight for Paul also, as he collected another four awards that same evening. “When I was looking for a duet partner I wanted someone with a really rich, wonderful voice – and Aleyce’s name came up in conversation,” he said. “I had heard her first single, Mighty Mighty Love, and knew her voice was what I was looking for.” The icing on the cake for the two was when the song reached #1 on the 3HOT-FM Mildura Top 100 Country Hits chart for February 7, reinforcing its radio-friendliness and realising its hit potential. The song peaked at #4 on the Country Tracks Top 30, remaining there for two weeks, and is still in the top 10, holding down the #8 position this week. The video clip is one of CMC’ s most requested, and has been enjoying high rotation in that medium. The next step for Aleyce will be into the studio, where Rod will work with the talented young starlet to make another of her dreams come true. Stand by for updates on Aleyce’s “dream” run. Stunning duet a bold choice for first single

Stunning duet a bold choice for first single
Paul Costa made a brave move when selecting the first single from his new album, Restoration.
He chose to run with a Bryan Adams-penned song, The Way You Make Me Feel, which he recorded as a duet with superb singer, Aleyce Simmonds.

This single has come up an absolute treat, under the skilful production of multiple award winner, Rod McCormack, who is once again in the producer’s chair for Paul’s second solo offering.

The album was launched in fine style at the Gympie Muster before a capacity audience in the Muster Theatre on Friday, August 25. Paul wanted his duet partner Aleyce there at all costs – so she flew in from Sydney just to do that one song – and flew out again that afternoon for a show in Tamworth the following night.

Aleyce’s appearance at the launch concert was as much appreciated by the audience, as it was by Paul.
Tune in to your favourite radio station – and if they’re not playing the single, ask why not!

Keep watching CMC as filming of a videoclip to accompany the new single has just been completed.

When you purchase a copy of Paul Costa's new Restoration CD, you're already on a winner, but as an added bonus Paul has teamed with Harvey World Travel to offer a great Gold Coast holiday promotion, which any CD buyer could win.

The prize package includes five nights' accommodation at Bel Air Resort Apartments, dinner and show at the Australian Outback Spectacular for two, one day theme park pass for two to either Seaworld, Movie World or Wet and Wild, ride around the Gold Coast in a restored classic car and a Paul Costa merchandise package. But hurry - entries close Friday October 27, 2006.

Aleyce’s song pays tribute to the pipeline workers
Hometown favourite Aleyce Simmonds played a very special role in the official opening of the Central Ranges natural gas pipeline opening ceremony yesterday in Tamworth.

Aleyce was called upon to sing the national anthem at the ceremony, before official proceedings commenced, and then later, appeared in the corporate video on the history-making project.

Following the video presentation, Aleyce performed a song she and Rod McCormack had written for the occasion, concentrating on the men who worked on the construction of the gas pipeline.

The $130 million project pipes natural gas along 294km from Dubbo to Tamworth, providing supplies for eight local government areas along the way.

Energy Minister Joe Tripodi, who was on hand to declare the project open, described the rollout of natural gas throughout the region as a massive boon for local business.

“Natural gas is a clean, environmentally friendly and cheap energy source, which can provide up to 70 per cent energy cost savings to business,” Mr Tripodi said.

Aleyce was approached to write the song, and was inspired by the stories she was told of the workers, some of whom came from Ireland, England, Western Australia and other parts of the country, to bring their expertise to the project.

The result was a moving tribute to their efforts, titled We’ve Come So Far, which Aleyce performed live, accompanied by Daniel Conway on guitar, before the large gathering.

In fact, Central Ranges Pipeline board chairman Jock Murray ensured the workers were the focus of the official opening, which was also attended by Tamworth Regional Council mayor James Treloar, Member for Tamworth Peter Draper, Labor MLA Christine Robertson and other dignitaries.

Mr Murray highlighted the dedication of the men, who worked in remote areas, isolated from their friends and families, while the project forged ahead.
Picture: Aleyce Simmonds with Energy Minister Joe Tripodi.

The words of the song are printed below:
We’ve Come So Far
I met an old man, lines of wisdom on his face
Eyes that told a thousand stories of long forgotten days
He spoke of visions and of many possibilities
He said reality’s a dream given priority
In a world where every answer leaves more questions why
And trust is given far too freely and truth gets lost in lies
We’ve come so far
To light this fire
We stand here united side by side
We’ve braved the odds and fought back tears
To burn this candle that’ll last through years
From a distant star
We’ve come so far
It takes being left out in the cold to fuel the fight
It takes our darkest hour before we see the light
In a world where every answer leaves more questions why
And trust is given far too freely and truth gets lost in lies
We’ve come so far
To light this fire
We stand here united side by side
We’ve braved the odds and fought back tears
To burn this candle that’ll last through years
From a distant star
We’ve come so far
We’ve come so far
To light this fire
We stand here united side by side
We’ve braved the odds and fought back tears
To burn this candle that’ll last through years
From a distant star
We’ve come so far

Aleyce to open the show for Troy

Tamworth’s prettiest and most talented export, Aleyce Simmonds, will return home to open the show for Troy Cassar-Daley as part of the Hats Off to Country Festival in July. To be staged at The Pub, one of the city’s premier country venues year-round, this will be an intimate and exclusive affair.

Troy can and has played in some of the biggest venues in the country, but opted for the intimacy of an Up Close and Personal concert at The Pub for Hats Off to Country audiences. Aleyce, who has been living in Sydney since leaving Tamworth last year, said she was over the moon to score such a prestigious support. “I’ve always been a major fan of Troy’s work, so being his opening act is a real honour and a privilege,” Aleyce said.

Aleyce is no stranger to large stages having just opened the major concert of the QUT Urban Country Music Festival in Caboolture. Fresh from a tour with Adam Harvey, another of the headline acts on the star-studded bill, Aleyce relished the opportunity to get out and perform to a large audience in such fine company. Her fellow artists were The Baileys, Troy Cassar-Daley, Adam Harvey, Melinda Schneider, Paul Kelly and the Stormwater Boys and Lee Kernaghan, who launched his album, The New Bush, before the huge crowd. Aleyce performed a 45-minute set, accompanied by Daniel Conway on guitar, closing with Mighty Mighty Love – her single recorded in Nashville, Tennessee, which was part of her prize package for winning the 2005 Telstra Road to Tamworth.

After her set, Aleyce was kept busy in the merchandising marquee, signing copies of her single, which was snapped up by fans, as well as hats, shirts and autograph books. You can obtain tickets to the Troy Cassar-Daley Up Close and Personal concert by contacting Tourism Tamworth on 6767 5300 or on the web

Aleyce tops the charts with stunning debut

The 2005 Telstra Road to Tamworth winner, Aleyce Simmonds, has nudged American heart-throb Gary Allan out of the number one spot on the Country Music Channel most requested video clip charts.

The clip for Aleyce’s debut single, Mighty Mighty Love, has reached the top spot after becoming a favourite of CMC viewers throughout Australia in recent weeks.

Having the most requested clip on CMC is the icing on the cake for the petite 18-year-old, whose single is climbing up the country charts right around Australia.

Just last Saturday in Melbourne, prior to the running of the Caulfield Cup, Aleyce melted the hearts of 50,000-plus racegoers with her a cappella version of the national anthem.

With no musical backing, just the 50,000-strong chorus behind her singing as one, the patriotic little Aussie could barely contain her emotions in the face of such a huge reaction.

Aleyce has already gained quite a following and her Sydney booking agents, Allied Artist and Event Services, can expect the phones to be running hot, as more and more people ring to book the exciting young singer from Tamworth who’s now quite literally … the talk of the town.

To find out more about Aleyce, visit the website, aleyce.com or to request her clip on CMC, visit www.countrymusicchannel.com.au
To arrange an interview phone Joan Douglas at The Pub Management on 0417 233 713.

Jake and Aleyce are two of the artists mentioned
The commercial radio industry this week announced eight new and emerging Australian artists who it believes have the potential to be the next big things on the Australian music scene
Aleyce Simmonds: At 18, Aleyce burst onto the Australian music scene by winning the 2005 Telstra Road to Tamworth/CMA Global Artist Talent Search.
Jake Nickolai: Aged 21, Jake is an accomplished guitarist and singer, and is currently touring Australia as the opening act with leading country music entertainer, Beccy Cole.

Mighty, mighty recording debut for Aleyce

Winning the prestigious Telstra Road to Tamworth talent search in January 2005 has certainly opened many doors for Aleyce Simmonds.
It opened the plane door on her first international flight, to Nashville, Tennessee, where the petite package with the astonishing voice from Tamworth recorded her prize-winning single, Mighty Mighty Love, which has just been released in Australia on the Sony Music label.
Mighty Mighty Love was recorded under the guidance of expat Australian producer, Mark Moffatt, who was also producer of the prestigious Global Artist Party, an introductory showcase of international acts at the start of the 2005 Fan Fair celebrations, another component of Aleyce’s lucrative prize package.
With bookings obtained by Sydney-based agency, Allied Artist and Event Services, Aleyce secured the spot as support act on Indian cowboy Bobby Cash’s current Australian tour.
Aleyce has had ample opportunities to preview the single for the primarily sellout crowds they have experienced so far on the tour.
Aleyce’s contemporary take on country is the perfect companion to Bobby’s smooth vocals and guitar mastery.
Mighty Mighty Love is being added to radio station playlists right around the country – and many of those in the mainstream market.
For a first single, it’s a mighty mighty effort.
For more information or to arrange an interview with Aleyce phone Joan Douglas or Anna Rose at The Pub Management, (02) 6765 4875, or 0417 233 713.

Aleyce Simmonds on the River Stage, Nashville Sunday 12th June
Tennessee was at the tail end of a southern coast hurricane and storms were predicted. The weather cleared as the Aussies hit the stage. The beautiful Cumberland River is the backdrop to the enormous double stage front with a tiered amphitheatre to the waters edge. The weather wasn’t kind and the fear of storms didn’t help but it was amazing to see the number of fans who weren’t afraid of a few wet feathers.
Aleyce’s performance was flanked by Catherine Britt and Jedd Hughes.
Other acts on the bill were Billy Gillman, The Wilkinsons, Paul Brandt and Justin McGurk.

Aleyce’s band was “on loan” from Pam Tillis so to have some of the very best in the business was just amazing. The crowd loved the performance and many fans lined up for photo opportunities and autographs. Americans appreciate good music and a good voice and they have been very impressed with our little girl from Tamworth.

Aleyce is now staying on in Nashville to co-write with some of the hit makers so it will be interesting what songs come home with her.
Aleyce will be performing at the Campbelltown Catholic Club on 2nd July and then The Pub, Tamworth for the Hats Off Festival

Some new pics for you. Aleyce been so busy over here that we are chasing our tail.
Keith is superstar status and brought the house down at the Coliseum on Thursday night. Holds about 90,000 I think and everyone of them were standing and screaming. It was awesome.
You could see that he is still humble enough to be overwhelmed by the response of this massive crowd. It was a wonderful day to be an Aussie, very emotional. Photo is near impossible but you may be able to do something with it, not sure
Will keep you posted.
Photo with Keith Anderson was taken at the CMT 100 Best Duets at Gaylord Entertainment Centre. Highlight was Dolly and Kenny coming together for the first time in 15 years to perform Islands In The Stream
As the number 1 duet.
Interviews at the Nashville Convention Centre and signing booth. Will add some snaps to that. People are noticing this kid!
Best wishes

Aleyce recording in Nashville
Former Tamworth girl Aleyce Simmonds has already got her foot well and truly in the country music door. On Friday June 3 she flew out to the United States to give that door a real nudge.
Some would say she's already a star because as winner of this year's Telstra Road to Tamworth talent search, she was given the chance to record her own single in Nashville.

"I can't believe it. I haven't even begun to pack. It's just come so quickly," Aleyce said last week. Aleyce said the single, called Mighty Mighty Love, was contemporary country, a style she wanted to embrace.
"It's very contemporary country" she said. "It's a song that could easily cross over to mainstream." You'll be able to pick up a copy in Australian music stores by August.

Aleyce said artists like Faith Hill, Keith Urban and Kasey Chambers had opened the door for up and coming artists like herself who wanted to blend country music with mainstream music.
She also said it was exciting that people's perception of country music had evolved and she felt "cool singing country music". Aleyce's parents, Michelle and Stephen, will be by her side in Nashville, along with her manager, Joan Douglas.

She'll perform a paid gig at America's leading country music festival, Fan Fair, singing a song she co-wrote with award-winning producer and Golden Guitar winner Rod McCormack.
All Aleyce's latest news can be seen on her website www.aleyce.com

Ryman Theatre, Nashville Tn. 8 June 2005
An invitation to the prestigious Fan Party at the legendary Ryman Theatre for the keith urban Fan Party was quickly accepted by Telstra Road to Tamworth winner, Aleyce Simmonds.
Watching 2,400 avid fans scream and shout with every hair flick of the Aussie superstar was a morning well spent. The invitation to join the star back stage was an unexpected thrill and a photo to prove it well!!!!!!

Keith and his band captured the, already besotted, crowd and worked them into an absolute frenzy. He gave some wonderful opportunities to some lucky fans who got to get on stage with their idol and have a close moment and photo opportunity.

There is little doubt that keith urban is certainly one of our greatest exports and to observe some of his fan base is very exciting.

Mike Carr, who performed along with Aleyce at the CMA Global Artist Party at The Stage on Monday night was another lucky Aussie to meet up with keith.
Aleyce will be playing the Fanfare River Stage, Sunday 12th June with fellow Aussies Catherine Britt and Jedd Hughes.
Aleyce describes her time here in Nashville as “a dream come true”.

ALEYCE SIMMONDS meets up with friends in Nashville  - 5/6/05
It has been an exciting week in the life of the 2005 Telstra Road to Tamworth winner, Aleyce Simmonds. She has enjoyed her first overseas flight and landed in her dream destination, Nashville Tennessee, USA.

She has had a busy schedule with meetings but last night had time to have dinner with old mates Catherine Britt and Mike Carr at the Green Hills Grille.

Aleyce and Mike will be appearing on the CMA Global Artist Party at The Stage on Broadway, Nashville, tomorrow night.

Aleyce will be sharing the River Stage next Sunday 12th June with Catherine and Jedd Hughes. It is such an incredible showcase of Australian talent.

The buzz in Nashville is all about Aleyce and tomorrow will be a night to remember. The strong Australian contingent to share her first Nashville performance will be her parents Michelle and Steve, along with Telstra’s Greg Swain, Allied Artists director, Rob Potts and Andy Jones of Sony BMG.

Aleyce performs at CMA Global Artist Party.
The Stage, Broadway,
Nashville 6th June 05
Aleyce was “the kid” when it came to age but her vocal strength made up for any age difference or experience when 6 nations came together in Nashville for the Country Music Association of America’s Global Artist Party. She told the audience that it was a dream come true to be standing on a stage in Broadway, Nashville and thanked the CMA and Telstra for making it all possible.

Hosted by Englands Rachael Warwick, the show was a unique showcase of styles and flavours that are rarely seen on the same stage.

Bobby Cash represented India, but made it very clear to the packed room that he felt that Australia felt like his home and was an important part of him. He sang a song “I Only Miss You Now and Then” and told the audience that it was written by John Minson, the man who started the country music in Tamworth, Australia. It was a proud moment for Tamworthians sitting there, such a note of respect to one of our greatest pioneers.

Mike Carr was the other Aussie in the story. Donning a mean black hat, Mike wooed the crowd to a standing ovation with his own repertoire and worked the stage like an absolute trooper.

Charlie Nagatani from Japan had earlier accepted an award from the CMA for his 50 years of work in Japan in the country music industry. Charlie was a charming man who sang the great old country songs that we all grew up with so a crowd pleaser.

Justin McGurk came from Ireland and certainly made a statement. He could hit some amazing high notes and the imagination could run wild with him and Khe Sanh!

Canada was represented by Adam Gregory. I think the ladies are still trying to recover. This young guy started the show with the confidence of a very seasoned performer. He was exciting and used his own band which was a very energetic group of muso’s who obviously enjoy the stage.

Expatriate Jeff Walker, Board Member of CMA, organised the concert and Mark Moffat was the Director. It was a credit to Australia.

Aleyce’s commenced her performance with a new song written by Rod McCormack and herself and then her signature song The Letter. She then gave them an old standard in Help Me Make It Through The Night before swinging back to another Aussie song Burn For You. She finished with a Nashville penned song.

The green room was a brand new, first use, tour bus. It could be very easy to get used to experiencing that luxury.

It was a wonderful end to a fantastic day. Earlier in the day the CMA made a presentation to Aleyce of a years membership to the organisation and a welcome to Nashville as part of her Telstra Road To Tamworth prize. At the same function she was given a top of the range Epiphone acoustic guitar to keep and it was a bizarre moment choosing her guitar on the sidewalk of Music Row. This was an unexpected gift.
Aleyce will be joining Catherine Britt and Jedd Hughes at the River Stage on Sunday 12th June with other great stars. It will be the end to an amazing week to remember.
