- QLD Tour for Tracy Coster
It has been twelve months since 2005 Golden Guitar winner Tracy
Coster has toured the region, and so she is looking forward to heading
up to Queensland to see her many fans and friends.
Coster has her own unique brand of Australian country songs and is
well versed about the Australian bush, being the daughter of the
legendary bush ballad song writer Stan Coster. As a performer Tracy
also possesses a warmth and distinctive sound shaped by the endless
road.
She has been dubbed the ‘weather girl’ with her latest single ‘I Don’t
Wanna Talk About Rain’. The long awaited follow up to her incredibly
successful album Coster Country, is a light hearted look at the
typical Aussie trait of always mentioning the weather, regardless of
what the direction of the conversation takes. The single was released
as a three track ep, containing the new radio single written by Tracy
‘I Don't Want to Talk About Rain’, and includes two previously
released vinyl tracks 'Why Do I Feel Like Crying' and 'Murrumbidgee
Riversong Blues', recorded at Hadley studio back in '85.
Tracy’s career has been soaring into new heights since the 2004
release of her tribute album to her father ‘Coster Country’. She has
been accumulating milestones in the past two years including winning a
Golden Guitar with Anne Kirkpatrick, a Top 10 hit ‘Back To The
Saltbush Plains’, named 2005 Australian Bush Ballad Album Of The Year,
and two Top 20 hits with ‘Won’t Those Memories Let Me Be’ and ‘I Don’t
Wanna Talk About Rain’. Tracy has also recently turned 40, and having
the best time of her life.
Tracy Coster was born in the bush and raised on the road, growing up
performing as a vital part of her fathers travelling show. She knows
first hand the joys and hardships of life on the road. Seventeen years
of touring with her dad non stop - we’re talking right through the
centre; all through the outback; mining towns; missions; pubs; clubs;
schools, you name it they played it. Towing caravans, changing tyres,
loading in and setting up equipment were just some of her job
descriptions. Five nights a week, ten months of the year she learned
about paying her dues.
One thing you can say about Coster, she is nothing if not determined.
Passionate about her heritage and the heritage of country music, she
continues to take her music out on the road. The show is a mixture of
originals, old favourites and of course a few of her dad’s songs.
“We always have a a great time and it’s a family show. I love hitting
the road, it’s my home away from home.” Tracy enthuses.
This is one young lady who knows where she comes from and where she
wants to be, and just keeps on getting better. You can catch Tracy

-
- The eighth annual Awards were staged before a capacity crowd in the Mildura
Arts Centre as the culmination of the 18th annual Mildura Country Music
Festival.
Tracy Coster won Heritage Track of the Year with Old Bush Barbeque while
Felicity Urquhart celebrated her return to the independent recording ranks
with her recent radio hit Turn Out The Light winning her the Female Vocal
category.
- Things have been pretty hectic in the
Coster camp lately as I have just recently returned from a trip to
Canberra where I signed a distribution and marketing deal with ACMEC
records. I am really excited to be signing with ACMEC.
I have recently recorded a brand new album “Coster Country” and it
will be released during the “Hats Off To Country” festival in
Tamworth. Arthur Laing and Shelly Juner have been behind me every step
of the way on this album and I’m really looking forward to my future
as a member of the ACMEC team.
“Coster Country,” will be launched at Joe Maguires Pub on Saturday the
10th July at 11am and you are very welcome to come along and celebrate
with us. It feels great to hold the launch at Joe’s as it feels like
coming home. Joe Maguire’s Pub was my very first professional gig and
so many people involved in the album come from Tamworth and I guess
you could say Tamworth was my first real home.
Coster Country has been a special project for me as it is a tribute to
my dad.
I believe that Stan Coster was one of the finest bush ballad
songwriters to ever grace this nation. And it’s surprising just how
many people are not aware of it. Dad had well over a hundred songs
recorded by various country artists; by far the most were recorded by
Slim Dusty, clocking up 72 Coster compositions.
I really wanted to do an album that would showcase the diversity of
his writings. Choosing the material was a nightmare in itself as for
every great song that made the cut there were at least another dozen
equally as good that didn’t. In the end I think we’ve come up with a
really good cross section of his work.
I had some great support right throughout the whole process; I was
really pleased to be able to record duets with likes of
John Williamson, “Wobbly Boot Hotel”, Adam Harvey, “The Old Gidgee
Tree”, Lee Kernaghan “You can never do wrong in a mothers eyes” and
Anne Kirkpatrick “Back to the saltbush Plains”.
I also managed a duet with my Dad, “Homestead of my dreams” and that
was just amazing. Emotionally this was a tough one, it brought back so
many memories of the nights I had stood and sung beside him, I have to
tell you it felt a bit eerie hearing his voice kind of drift in
through the head phones, it brought out the Goosebumps. Even though I
had a few moments its my favorite track on the album.
ACMEC Records will be responsible for distribution and Coster Country
and it is available in all record.
To help promote the album I will be heading off to QLD for a fairly
extensive tour. If you would like to catch up with me somewhere along
the track you’ll find me at these venues:

song writing and the now famous story of
- how he first met Slim Dusty. And of the
friendship they formed that lasted a lifetime
- and saw 78 Stan Coster originals recorded
by the old SD.
- Stan was awarded 3 Golden Guitars,
received the “Order of Australia” he was
- elevated to the “Roll of Renown”,
inducted in to the “Hands of Fame” and won the
- very first “Song maker Award”, high
honors indeed for a plain Australian bushman.
- The book is A4 size and fully illustrated, through 168 pages you learn of the Coster
- family, their hardships and triumphs,
this is no fairy story it is simply Coster
- as he lived - hard hitting, straight down
the line & uncompromisingly honest
- His love for the battler, the fair dinkum
Australian is never far away as he tells of
- how he wrote the songs that won him such
acclaim, songs like, “By a Fire of Gidgee
- Coals,” “Short of a Quid,” “Three
Rivers Hotel,” and “You can Never do Wrong in
- a Mothers eyes”. Now
