THE PIGS LAUNCH DEBUT ALBUM
AT GYMPIE MUSTER
The Pigs are known for exceptional
live performances, thrilling crowds with their raw energy,
original sound and
outrageous antics. And the band’s sound has evolved over the
past two years with more and more original songs
appearing in their sets.
When they decided to record an album, The Pigs were determined
to approach the studio with the same “no-limits”
attitude as their live performances. They were months in the
studio with engineer and co-producer Steve Newton
and now present to the world something really special…
“The quality of the original songwriting on this album will see
The Pigs become a major force in the Australian Record
Industry.”
The Pigs Debut Self-Titled album combines great down-home
bluegrass sounds with glorious pop/rock/country
energy. Banjo Master, Matsumoto Montz features on many of the
tracks. He smashed out some of the fastest, most
inspired, yet sensitive banjo in recorded history...seriously!
The Pigs also enlisted Bluegrass Legends, Andrew
Clermont, Mark Oats and Daryl Melbourne on mandolin, fiddle and
dobro.
With three lead vocalists and three key songwriters there is
real variety in this album. Still, there is that
unmistakable ‘Pigs Sound’ running throughout. The rip-snorting
crackers, Buster the Bomb, Marion the Beagle and
Crazier Than You will get your legs pumping, while the more
reflective Sofa People and My Heart is Like a Brick will
have you cruising all the way home. The ballad, Sometimes It’s
Hard, adds a sentimental touch to the album and
Don’t Dump Your Lover On The Phone… You just have to hear. (…and
of course they had to include a couple of
trademark arrangements… Don’t miss their take on Brittany
Spears!)
The Pigs achieved ARIA Chart success, and featured as “single of
the week” on CMC, in January this year, with the
release of their EP Crazy and an animated video clip. They once
again totally dominated the Midnight Shift in
Tamworth and played the main stage at both the Kinross Country
Muster, and the Urban Country Muster. (Sharing
billing with the likes of John Williamson, Troy Cassar-Daley,
Adam Brand, and Jimmy Barnes at the latter.)
The Pigs launch their album at a special show at the Gympie
Muster in August. Last year the band cut a swathe
through the festival, packing out the Crow Bar on Thursday night
and winning over fans young and old. This year,
with great new original songs and a banjo and fiddle player to
throw into the mix it’s looking even more mindblowing.
The Pigs is available in stores August 18 Album Available
