Winners are grinners!
The winners in the 13th CMAA Australian Country Music
Achiever Awards were announced last night in a star studded event at
WatersEdge in Sydney.
Country music’s most respected performers and industry movers and
shakers were there to tip their hats to the Achiever Awards’ Class
of ’07 which included those musicians, performers and organisations
who have flown the country music flag over the previous 12 months.
The gala ceremony was held under the Sydney Harbour Bridge with
performances by this year’s Entertainer of the Year winner (taking
his total Achiever Award wins is five) and crowd favourite Troy
Cassar-Daley. Troy’s non stop touring as well as his appearances on
the last two seasons of “It Takes Two” have cemented him in the
hearts and minds of fans and the industry alike.
Taking her 3rd Independent Entertainer of the Year Award in a row
was the beautiful Felicity Urquhart, fresh from her performance
before US President George W Bush and Prime Minister Howard
during APEC week in Sydney. Felicity performed tonight with
her partner and collaborator Glen Hannah, who also took home his 3rd
Achiever Award in 2007 in the Cover Art of the Year category (for
Ring Around the Moon by James Blundell).
In the industry awards categories, ABC Music Publishing
solidified their standing as Publishing Company of the Year winning
the Award for the 6th consecutive year and Shock Records took out
their 2nd Record Company of the Year – Independent Award.
Also winning consecutive Awards were The Pub, Tamworth
(Entertainment Venue of the Year) and John Nutting (Media Achiever
of the Year – Individual). Sydney based label Compass Bros Records
also returned to the podium for the 4th time as Record Company of
the Year – Major Distribution.
In its 2nd year in the Achiever Awards calendar, the CMAA Board was
proud to present the Musician of the Year Award to James Gillard
whose long musical career has seen him move from the rock ‘n roll
stage (Mondo Rock), to work with some of country music’s most
respected bands (The Fargone Beauties, The Flood, The Stormwater
Boys).
Each year, the Phonographic Performance Company of Australia (PPCA)
acknowledges the Australian country music recording artist who has
received that highest radio airplay during the previous year. The
recipient of the PPCA Most Broadcast Australian Country Music Artist
Award for 2006 was Keith Urban.

Graham, Gemma, Jayne & Felicity -
Finalists in the Aus Independent CM Awards
-
It has been an exciting time for
the following four artists over the last month or so, with all
having success with their latest singles, album releases, and
finalist nominations in the Australian Independent Country Music
Awards.
Golden Guitar winner Felicity Urquhart has not only recently signed
a publishing deal with one of Australia’s leading publishing
companies Mushroom Music Publishing, she has also been named a
finalist in three upcoming awards: CMAA Achiever Awards Independent
Entertainer of the Year / Mo Awards Slim Dusty Country Performer of
the Year / Australian Independent Country Music Awards for Single of
the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year. With her new single NO
MISTAKES climbing the CMC video chart and airplay charts – taken
from her album MY LIFE (distributed by Shock Records), it is
available at radio on the August Shock Records country sampler.
Graham Rodger’s start to 2007 was wonderful, with him being named a
finalist at the CMAA Golden Guitars, taking out a number of awards
at the TSA’s and continued his winning streak at the 2007 QLD Gold
Medallion Awards. Having just returned from a successful Gympie
Muster, Graham is on the Top 30 Country Tracks chart at #19, with
his single WOMAN ON THE LAND, taken from his album THUNDERBOLT
(distributed by OneStop Country). The strength of this song has
helped secure Graham a nomination in the Heritage Track of the Year
at the Australian Independent Country Music Awards, to be held early
October. WOMAN ON THE LAND is available at radio on the NFS #114
sampler.
Alternative country artist Gemma Doyle has proven again her songs
hit the mark with audiences and peers alike. After her Golden Guitar
nomination this year and recent video clip showings on Channel
Nine’s The Music Jungle and ABC’s Rage, Gemma is back at radio and
on CMC with her latest single ALL I WANT IS TONIGHT. Having received
steady requests on CMC for her new single, taken from the album
NOTHING (distributed by OneStop Country), Gemma is sitting in the
Top 40 and climbing. The single is at radio and available on NFS
#113 sampler. Her talent has been identified by the country music
fraternity with her being named a finalist in the Australian
Independent Country Music Awards for Rising Star Female.
Jayne Denham may be a new name to some, but she’s been working on
her craft for many years. Having just released her debut album last
month, titled SUDDEN CHANGE IN THE WEATHER (distributed by Shock
Records), Jayne has already had a Top 20 hit with her first single
CHICK UTE. This country rock chick is definitely one to keep on the
radar, and it seems others share the same opinion, with her being
nominated for Rising Star Female at the Australian Independent
Country Music Awards. Keep an eye out for her new
single COUSIN JUDE on the August Shock
Records country sampler.

Felicity Urquhart was a popular winner at the recent 35th CMAA
Country Music Awards of Australia, presented by Jayco. Held in the
Tamworth Regional Entertainment Centre to a sell-out crowd, Felicity
took out Video Clip of the Year for the beautiful Big Black Cloud,
which was directed by Glenn Wilson, and co-written with Grammy winner
Randy Scruggs.
It was Felicity’s second Golden Guitar, and a well-deserved one, as
her album My Life was nominated for Album of the Year and the single
Big Black Cloud for Female Artist of the Year.
Felicity’s thanks included producer Glen Hannah, The Pub Management,
RUM Entertainment, all family, friends and fans who have been
following her career, plus to director, friend and her drummer Glenn
Wilson for creating the winning clip.

Felicity was honoured at the Australian Country Music People’s Choice
Awards being awarded Best Female Vocal, ahead of a strong field of
finalists including Kasey Chambers, Beccy Cole, Sara Storer and Cat

Felicity celebrates the New Year by giving to our
troops
-
-
While most people in Australia are recovering from their Christmas
excesses and planning to break New Year’s resolutions, country star
Felicity Urquhart has another New Year’s mission in mind. Felicity
leaves Australian shores this week as part of a group of 12
performers, to entertain Australian troops and federal police officers
in the Solomon Islands over New Year.
Bush poet Dave Proust, rock band Night Train, and Felicity, together
with musicians Brett Wood, Simon Johnson and Rudy Miranda, will
perform in a series of New Year’s Eve concerts for Australian troops
and members of the Australian Federal Police serving in the Solomons.
Also performing for the troops will be the RAAF’s Central Band from
Melbourne, under the baton of Squadron Leader Steve Wright.
“I was absolutely thrilled to be invited to go to the Solomons to do
something positive for our defence force personnel,” Felicity said.
“It would have been easy to stay at home and celebrate New Year’s Eve
with family and friends, but when I thought of all those people who
didn’t have that luxury because of their commitment to Australia’s
defence, I couldn’t stay away.”
The troupe of entertainers will arrive back in Australia early in the
New Year. Felicity will then prepare for her major concert at the 2007
Tamworth Country Music Festival, where she appears at Wests’ Diggers
on Wednesday, January 24. Felicity will also appear as a special guest
on Sara Storer’s concert at Tamworth Regional Entertainment Centre on
Thursday, January 25.
Felicity’s new single, Big Black Cloud, from her Golden
Guitar-nominated Album of the Year, My Life, is enjoying extensive
airplay across Australia and the video clip is in residence at the #1
spot on the CMC most requested clips chart.

Three Golden opportunities come Felicity’s way
-
-
There’s no trace of a Big Black Cloud
hovering over superb singer-songwriter Felicity Urquhart with the
announcement today of her three Golden Guitar finalist berths.
Felicity is in contention for Album of the Year for My Life; together
with Video Clip of the Year and Female Artist of the Year for her hit
single, Big Black Cloud. Felicity co-wrote the song with American
hitmaker and Grammy award winning producer, Randy Scruggs.
This latest announcement adds to the excitement and anticipation of
the Tamworth Country Music Festival, when Felicity has the opportunity
to return to her hometown and catch up with all her friends.
Felicity is also a finalist in the People’s Choice Awards (for Female
Vocal and Album of the Year) and in the TIARAs, in Female Vocal.
In the Victorian Country Music Awards, announced in February 2007,
Felicity is a finalist in four categories of the national section –
Female Vocalist, Songwriters’ Composition, Best Independent Release
and Bluegrass/Traditional Country.
This year has certainly been a landmark in Felicity’s career,
consolidating her name as one of the finest and most hard-working
artists in the industry.
To date she has picked up accolades and awards for Best Country Artist
at the 2006 Musicoz Awards; Independent Entertainer of the Year at the
CMAA Achiever Awards; Female Vocalist, Album, and Single of the Year
at the Australian Independent Country Music Awards and the Australian
Songwriters’ Association named her Country Songwriter of the Year.
While 2006 was a stellar year in Felicity’s career, it could be that
2007 may even better that achievement for this fabulous entertainer.

No Big Black Cloud following
this co-writing team
-
While Felicity Urquhart is riding high on a
wave of success with her latest single, Big Black Cloud, the song’s
co-writer is in the winner’s circle on the other side of the world.
Randy Scruggs, son of legendary American bluegrass musician Earl
Scruggs, is a much admired musician, songwriter and record producer.
At the 40th annual CMA Awards, announced this week in America, Randy
was named Musician of the Year for the third time in seven years. He
won the coveted award previously in 2003 and 1999, adding to his tally
of five CMA awards (two others for his production talents). As a
writer Randy has scored seven #1 hits and has more than 100 songs
recorded by major artists including Trisha Yearwood, Patty Loveless
and Deana Carter. He’s also won three Grammy awards for his production
and musicianship, and was honoured by the Gibson Guitar company as
Country Guitarist of the Year 1999. Felicity, who spent some time
writing with him in the States on a previous visit, was absolutely
delighted to hear of Randy’s big win this week. “Randy gave me the
confidence to be myself,” Felicity said. “His musicianship and
songwriting skills are enormous but what was most overwhelming to me
was his kind heart and reserved nature. He’s a true gem and I wish him
continued success in his career.” Felicity is having a great time with
the response from radio listeners and programmers, and audiences all
over the country just loving songs from her new album, My Life.
Felicity was totally stoked to learn that Big Black Cloud was #1 on
the Sounds Like Café chart for October. It was her first time on the
chart, and to start at the top with that song was a real bonus.
Felicity is a finalist in Best Country Artist in the MusicOz Awards,
to be announced in Sydney on November 14. This comes on top of her
back to back wins in the CMAA Achiever Awards for Independent
Entertainer of the Year.

Felicity’s the toast of the latte set
-
Roots music has been embraced by Australia’s coffee culture, with
Felicity Urquhart’s stunning new single, Big Black Cloud, achieving
the #1 spot on the Sounds Like Cafe chart for October. Sounds Like
Café was established with the specific purpose of distributing quality
Australian music to cafes and coffee shops throughout selected areas
of Australia. Each Sounds Like Café CD features some of Australia’s
most highly regarded musicians and composers, new releases from up and
coming artists and bonus international tracks. So if you happen to be
sipping a latte, a long black, a cappuccino or a flat white at any one
of the 605 coffee shops in the metropolitan area of Australia, or 598
outlets in regional Australia, there’s every chance you will hear
Felicity’s velvet vocals streaming through that venue.
“It was such a great bonus for me to go straight to the top of that
chart my first time in – and totally unexpected, which makes it that
much more special,” Felicity said.
And it’s not only the latte set raving over Big Black Cloud. In this
week’s Country Music Channel Countdown, the clip has risen to #7, its
highest entry to date.
Felicity is a finalist in Country Artist of the Year at the MusicOz
Awards for The Flood, the first single from her highly acclaimed
album, My Life. The MusicOz Awards winners will be announced on
Tuesday, November 14 at the Enmore Theatre, Sydney.

Back to back wins for Felicity Urquhart
-
Felicity Urquhart took out the coveted Entertainer of the Year
(Independent) at the 2006 CMAA Achiever Awards in Sydney on Monday
night.
In a field of high achievers, the Tamworth-born star shone on the
night, performing to the sellout crowd at the Sydney Harbour Marriott,
singing her new hit single, Big Black Cloud.
Felicity won the award last year and was delighted to add another
glittering trophy to her already weighted-down mantelpiece.
“It’s such an honour to win this award, when I’m in such fine
company,” Felicity said.
“I just love entertaining – always have – and it’s something I hope to
keep doing for a long, long time.”
Felicity paid tribute to her manager, Joan Douglas, her sister and
publicist Rebecca McCarthy, and her guitar player and producer, Glen
Hannah, who accompanied Felicity on stage for her performance that
night.
In another category on the night, Cover Art of the Year, Glen Hannah,
a dual finalist, took out the award for his creative design of My
Life, Felicity’s current album.
CMAA project manager Cath Grippo said in putting the awards together,
it was quite extraordinary the number of CD covers Glen had created.
“I don’t know how he does it. He’s so busy as a professional musician,
touring with Kasey Chambers, and yet he still finds time to create
some wonderful artwork for such a large number of artists,” Cath said.
The host with the most on the awards night was Channel 10 weatherman
and huge country music supporter, Tim Bailey.
The event is organised by the Country Music Association of Australia
and awards are voted on by the organisation’s professional membership.
Organisers said this year a record number of members took the
opportunity to vote for their peers in these unique awards that
recognise the achievements of behind the scenes workers in the media,
venues, record companies and the like.
There was no chance for Felicity to take a long sleep-in after her big
night out in Sydney, as she was up bright and early for an appearance
on The Today Show, with Richard Wilkins, who was a guest presenter at
the Achiever Awards.
Following that, the consummate entertainer hopped on a plane bound for
Rockhampton, where she will join fellow Golden Guitar winner Adam
Brand on a tour of Queensland.

Felicity scores the winning trifecta
at Mildura Awards
-
Three wins out of three starts is a great
result in anyone’s language, which is just how it was for Felicity
Urquhart at the Telstra CountryWide Southern Stars 10th Annual
Australian Independent Country Music Awards.
The Flood, the first single from Felicity’s highly acclaimed fifth
album, My Life, took out the APRA/AMCOS Independent Country Music
Single of the Year, and My Life won the One Stop Entertainment
Independent Album of the Year. Felicity’s awards trifecta was complete
when she was announced winner of the Independent Female Vocalist
award, a trophy she also accepted in 2004. This has been a significant
year in Felicity’s career to date, with numerous accolades coming her
way. Although she has been writing songs for a number of years, it
wasn’t until this year she actually won an award from the Australian
Songwriters’ Association for her songwriting. She very proudly added
this trophy to her mantelpiece already filled with MO, ACE, TIARA,
CMAA Achiever and other rewards of her talent and dedication.
“I was thrilled to win one award at Mildura, let alone three,”
Felicity said. “Being a fiercely independent artist, I’m just so
delighted the judges have seen fit to recognise My Life in this way,
and feel that Glen Hannah really did bring out the very best in me and
in the musicians who worked on the project.”
Felicity will take that winning smile with her all the way through NSW
and Queensland when she takes off on tour with multiple Golden Guitar
winner James Blundell from October 11 to 15. Then on October 16 in
Sydney, Felicity will perform as reigning Independent Entertainer of
the Year at the CMAA Achiever Awards. Following that gig, it’s on the
road again for this consummate performer, this time in the fine
company of fellow Golden Guitar winner Adam Brand, for a series of
shows in Queensland until late November.
Big Black Cloud, the third single from My Life, has just been released
to radio. The song was co-written with American hitmaker Randy Scruggs
and is a real showstopper at Felicity’s live concerts. You can keep up

FELICITY’S LIFE IS GOOD
Life has been smiling down on FELICITY URQUHART throughout a
hectic few months promoting her latest single and shooting episodes
for Channel 7’s Sydney Weekender.
Her single MY LIFE reached #3 on the Top 30 Country Tracks chart and
is currently #12 on the CMC Top 30 video chart. The track is taken
from the album of the same name, MY LIFE, distributed by Shock
Records.
“The support has been appreciated from not only the media but from the
fans, as it’s them who come to the shows and request my songs to radio
and CMC,” explains Felicity.
Recently returning from a NSW tour with Adam Brand, she is looking
forward to hitting the road again in October on an acoustic tour with
James Blundell, and a QLD tour mid October with Adam Brand & Carter &
Carter.
“I remember watching James when he won Starmaker, when I was a kid, so
I’m honoured to be performing alongside him in a stripped-back
performance – just the two of us and guitars.”
“And when on Brandy’s tour we just all have a good time.”
In August Felicity was named Australian Songwriters Association’s
Country Songwriter Of The Year, for her song THE FLOOD co-written with
Glen Hannah. Felicity felt honoured with the award, as it was her
first award in the songwriting arena.
Felicity is currently a finalist in three categories at the upcoming
Australian Independent CM Awards for Album Of The Year, Single Of The
Year and Female Vocalist Of The Year, to be announced at the
culmination of one of the biggest independent music festivals in
Australia, the Mildura Country Music Festival, Saturday 30th
September.

She has also been named a finalist in the ACRA’s (Australian Country
Recording Artists) Awards for Female Vocalist Of The Year, to be
announced September 30, during the Manilla CM Festival.

finalist in the 9th ACE Awards (Australian Club Entertainment Award)

- FELICITY CHARTS & HEADS TO RUSSIA
Felicity Urquhart is certainly living her life, as her
current single MY LIFE hits the charts.
The title track from her brand new album MY LIFE has just broken
into the Top 30 Country Tracks chart.
“There are two words that describe this album: delicate and
exquisite. The songs are perceptive, yet subtle ….and the shear
beauty of the music…Highlights include the title track My Life, the
darkly introspective Big Black Cloud and Lonely Girl …. Felicity has
long been under-rated on the Australian country scene. This classy
and appealing album should remedy that situation in a hurry.” Susan
Jarvis, CapNews
Felicity is currently enjoying the spoils of Norfolk Island for
their annual country music festival, and was excited to hear the
news, and thanked all the stations for their support.
“Thanks to all who have added My Life – it’s a great feeling knowing
people are hearing your songs,” Felicity explains.
ACT residents will be able to see Felicity shortly, as she heads to
Canberra to perform an intimate acoustic dinner show at The Rose Inn
Canberra Friday 2 June, before jetting off to Russia where she will
be performing at Australia Week in Moscow.
“The singer is a melancholic maestro of mood swings from morose Big
Black Cloud to sensual swagger of Breathe and paralysis of love in
No Mistakes. She explores fragility in A Little Joy, retreat in
Lonely Girl and yearning for love that escaped in Take Me Back….
Beg, steal or borrow to find this gem.” Dave Dawson, Beat Magazine
She is also featured in the nomination of music show NuCountry TV in
The Antennas, the upcoming national community television awards. The
episode hosted by Felicity is in the Top 5 of Best Music Show, to be
announced June 16 in Federation Square, Melbourne.

“Felicity is one of Australia’s most sophisticated female artists.
This Album is EXCELLENT!” Charlie Sparrow, Blues Country Magazine
“Tamworth troubadour Felicity Urquhart digs up pure country roots on
her fifth CD. She blends bliss of mentor Alison Krauss on the title
track and 'On & On', before displaying soulful swagger on 'The
Flood' – two of four tracks performed with guitarist-producer Glen
Hannah. Felicity masters mood swings in the morose 'Big Black Cloud'
and stormy 'No Mistakes', and tackles the topic of survival in
'Still Alive' – penned with bluegrass torchbearer Randy Scruggs.
There’s ruptured romance in 'Mr Catfish', heart paralysis in 'A
Little Joy', retreat in 'Lonely Girl', yearning in 'Take Me Back'
and abandonment in 'Breathe'. This is Felicity at her creative peak,
wedding heart and soul with delicious dexterity. A gem.” Music

Felicity Urquhart. Felicity, a regular presenter on Sydney

also conquering another form of media – radio.
Felicity has scored the gig as fill-in presenter for John Nutting on

- Award nominations
‘flooding’ in for Felicity
It’s raining nominations for Felicity Urquhart, whose new
single The Flood has found favour with judges and industry
representatives right across the board.
Felicity was notified early in December of her finalist nomination
in the Female Vocalist of the Year category of the 2006 CMAA Golden
Guitar Awards.
Then came news of her finalist berth in the 30th Annual Australian
Entertainment MO Awards, in the Country Female Performer of the year
category. The MO Awards celebrate excellence in live performance and
the winners will be announced in February, 2006 at a gala ceremony
in Sydney.
The judges of the 2006 Tamworth Independent Artists Recognition
Awards (TIARAs) also found Felicity’s composition, The Flood, to
their liking, naming her in both the Female Vocal and Songwriting
categories.
At the 2005 Tamworth Country Music Festival Felicity took home the
Best Female trophy from the ACMLA People’s Choice Awards and she
will defend her crown next month, having secured a finalist berth in
that category of the 2006 awards.
As Felicity prepares for the release of her new album, My Life,
released through Shock Records, at the 2006 Tamworth Country Music
Festival, she’s found this flood of nominations extremely
heartening.
“I’m just so thrilled at the response to The Flood so far,” Felicity
said.
”This is the first single from the album, so I can’t wait for
everyone to hear all the other songs. Glen Hannah has done such a
fabulous job of the production, I couldn’t be happier.”
My Life will be officially launched at The Pub Group on Target stage
outside the Target department store in Peel St, at 12.30pm on
Wednesday, January 25.

Felicity a hot contender for female vocalist
crown
- The ocean of tears and raw emotion behind her brilliant new
single, The Flood, has secured Felicity Urquhart a finalist berth in
the 2006 CMAA Country Music Awards of Australia.
Felicity’s heartfelt dedication to her parents, may well see her
take home her second Golden Guitar – this time in the coveted female
vocalist of the year category.
Having been in the finals on numerous occasions, Felicity won her
first Golden Guitar in 2001 when she took out vocal collaboration of
the year with Darren Coggan, Beccy Cole and Adam Harvey, but winning
the female vocal would be the icing on the cake for this home-grown
star.
“I’m so honoured to be in such fine company with my fellow finalists
Beccy Cole, Tania Kernaghan, Samantha McClymont and Sara Storer,”
Felicity said.
- Felicity has also been honoured with a finalist nomination
for Country Female Performer of the Year at the 30th Annual
Australian Entertainment MO Awards, celebrating excellence in live
performance, to be announced February 2006.
Felicity is excited about the release of her much anticipated new
album, My Life, which will take place during the 2006 Tamworth
Country Music Festival.
“I couldn’t be happier with the production of the album, or the way
the whole thing has come together,” Felicity said.
Glen Hannah and Jeff McCormack share the production credits, and the
cream of Australia’s session musicians were enlisted to ensure the
disc was first class – all the way.
The video clip of The Flood is enjoying high rotation on the Country
Music Channel. To keep updated with Felicity’s latest achievements,

Gifted Australian singer-songwriter Felicity Urquhart is in line
for three Golden Guitars in January, as a finalist in the Female
Vocalist and Vocal Collaboration categories.
In female vocalist, Felicity's radio hit, Turn Out The Light, is
the song that elevated her to the top five, in a strong field of
four previous holders of the title - Kasey Chambers, Melinda
Schneider, Beccy Cole and Sara Storer.
In Vocal Collaboration of the Year, Felicity's vocal pairing with
Graeme Connors (I Dream of Highways) and Glen Hannah (Dear
Someone) made the top five.
A third Felicity vocal collaboration with Daniel Thompson (Where
Do We Go From Here), featured in the judges' top 10 choices,
announced a week prior to the top five.
It's been a huge year for Felicity, as she has been the face of a
nationally screened Tourism NSW TV campaign, and she was a popular
guest on the Seven Network's Sydney Weekender, with Mike Whitney.
A film clip for Dear Someone, shot at Avoca Beach, has been
screened on CMC, Rage and other outlets.
At the 2004 Telstra Country Wide Southern Stars Eighth Australian

Listening to Turn Out The Light, you could easily mistake it for a
love song - but the story behind the song is far from that.
Feeling lost and alone, uncertain of her future as an independent,
the Golden Guitar and MO Award winner penned the song and
committed it to disc, along with several other tracks on her first
independent release since being signed to the label in the late
90s.
Turn Out The Light has been extremely well received at radio

FELICITY has well and truly
come of age in the Australian entertainment
industry, having served her apprenticeship among some of the best
in the
business. Now it's Felicity's turn to take the spotlight.
Having taken her first steps on stage at age 12, she's now trodden
the
boards of the world's stage - and her star is still on the rise.
Nashville
music critics have come to know the singer from down under during
several
recent trips to America visiting "Music City" and St Louis - home
of the
blues.
Within the last year, Felicity has travelled to the States a
number of times
for songwriting and performance trips, with the latest focusing on
her
forthcoming album and career fifth.
She's now armed with a swagful of songs, co-written with some of
Nashville's
finest including Gene Pistilli, who wrote the title track from her
most
recent EMI album, New Shadow, and recent Grammy award winner Jim
Lauderdale,
who wrote Planet of Love.
Other collaborators include Jerry Salley, Randy Scruggs, Ray
Herndon,
Jimbeau Hinson, and Jennifer Kimball who are more than impressed
by Felicity
and she's now ready to begin recording the follow-up.
Accolades are nothing new, as she has been singing for more than
half her
life - but for Felicity - it's fun and it shows.
Her new album is due for release late 2004, and to satisfy her
legion of
fans released a Limited Edition EP titled "Turn Out The Light"
earlier this
year. The title track & first single "Turn Out The Light" is
climbing into
the Top 10 Country Charts with strong airplay support.
"This is the way country used to be ... the artist has a unique
voice that
plays with the lyrics".

Felicity's
Tour News
NASHVILLE
– She earned rave reviews for her shows September 2002, now
EMI/Australia recording artist Felicity returns to Music City. The
award-winning young singer will be working with recent Grammy winner
Jim Lauderdale, Randy Scruggs, Kevin Welch, Jimbeau Hinson, Bruce
Bouton, Jennifer Kimball, Mark Moffatt and others during her two
week visit.
A mainstay on the music scene back home, Felicity was
one of only two country artists to perform at the famed Sydney Opera
House for a celebrity-studded audience, including the Prime
Minister, on Australia Day late in January. She’s in
pre-production now for her 3rd EMI release and 5th album
overall in a career which began when she was 12.
Felicity will be accompanied at her local shows by two
of her countrymen: boyfriend Glen Hannah, a member of Kasey
Chambers’ band, and recent Nashville émigré Jedd Hughes, 22, who
tours with Patty Loveless.
Joan Douglas, Felicity’s Tamworth-based manager,
will accompany the personable young singer.

EMI-Australia artist Felicity returns after earning rave notices
from her September Music City debut. “Echoes of Patsy Cline
with power to spare”, quotes Music Row’s Robert K. Oermann,
while the Tennessean’s Craig Havighurst said her latest CD, New
Shadow, “matches her sexy, winsome voice to a bag of
really well chosen country songs.” She’s backed tonight by
Glen Hannah, Kasey Chamber’s mandolin/guitarist and Jedd
Hughes, from Patty Loveless’ band.
This
trip also finds Felicity co-writing with Jim Lauderdale, Kevin
Welch, Jimbeau Hinson, Gene Pistilli, Bruce Bouton and others.

Felicity continues visit
- She’s
been singing country music for almost 15 years, and has made two
previous visits to Nashville. But Australian vocalist Felicity
has found things a bit different during her latest Music City
tour, which concludes Saturday at 3rd and Lindsley,
where she opens for Jonell Mosser.
-
“I’ve never been here in the wintertime,”
Felicity laughed. “It’s a lot colder than I imagined”.
-
- Weather
misgivings aside, Felicity’s been making a strong impression
in the country world, thanks to her latest release New Shadow
(EMI Australia). The disc includes several tunes written or
co-written by such area staples as recent Grammy winner Jim
Lauderdale, Al Anderson, Jamie O’Hara and Dean Miller, and it
showcases her intense, declarative vocals and frequently
animated delivery.
Felicity’s style reflects the highly personalised
approach of her twin favourites and prime influences Dolly Parton
and Patsy Cline. “If you could somehow mix those two together and
add a guitar, that would be my ideal sound,” she added. The disc
also reflects the influence of western swing, honky-tonk and even
some pre-rock pop with a cover of a Johnny Mercer number.
Currently in pre-production for her third EMI release
and fifth over-all, Felicity actually began singing country at the
tender age of 12. She
quickly emerged as a formidable performer by issuing an album at 16
and becoming a finalist in the new talent competition for
Australia’s equivalent of the CMA Awards a year later. She backed
Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson at the Sydney Entertainment Centre
in 1994, and won multiple awards for her country expertise at home.
“There’s always been a very active country music
audience in Australia,” Felicity said when asked about differences
between American and Australian fans. “I guess the major
difference here is that they tend to be a little more excited, a
little more willing to respond to your performance.”
Felicity has been honing her writing skills during
this current Nashville stint, collaborating with Lauderdale, Randy
Scruggs, Kevin Welch, Jimbeau Hinson, Bruce Bouton among others.

- Former
Tamworth songbird Felicity flew the coop to Nashville two weeks

Australian soil.
-
While the sophisticated singer from down under was
in the American country music capital, her manager Joan Douglas
virtually had to “pull on the reins” to hold Felicity back.
-
“The gig at the Exit Inn on March 11 was
fantastic,” Joan said.
-
“The sound was bad on stage, but we would not
have known out front. Glen Hannah’s hot picking, with Jedd
Hughes on mandolin was just amazing.
-
“These Americans were stunned by their talent.
Fliss’ voice and rhythm guitar was just the icing on the cake.
She is impressing all who see her and that’s not just a biased
manager talking, now.”
-
Joan said Felicity had been busy songwriting with
some of the best in the business – Randy Scruggs, Jennifer
Kimball, Jim Lauderdale, Bruce Bouton (who produced Graeme
Connors’ new album, This Is Life), Claudia Scott partner of
Kevin Welch and Jerry Salley, who has written many hits for Alan
Jackson, as well as Adam Harvey’s House That Jack Built.
-
“She’s working flat out – doing two sessions
a day. The poor little thing is exhausted as she is going day
and night, but the songs are great and it has been well worth
the trip,” Joan said.
-
Before leaving Nashville, Felicity and Glen Hannah
did a gig at the Sherlock Holmes pub, which turned out to be a
real Aussie night out on the town.
-
Among the audience (and up on stage for a few
numbers), were Kylie Sackley, Pru Clearwater and Kiwi performer,
