Toyota Star Maker – a serious career boost
When it comes to talent searches in Australia, Toyota Star
Maker is up with the best as it aims to provide annual winners with
the best possible start to their careers.
The quest has helped launch many of today’s leading country stars by
giving them firm professional support through the early development of
their careers.
Stars like James Blundell, Darren Coggan, Beccy Cole, Gina Jeffreys,
Lee Kernaghan, Samantha McClymont, Cat Southern, Travis Sinclair,
Keith Urban, of course, and Brendon Walmsley, just to name few.
Now, with the full album deal as a part of the generous prize package,
Toyota Star Maker support to its winner has increased dramatically.
This in addition to the use of a Toyota RAV and fuel card, filming of
a video clip, Maton guitar, Bose public address system, high exposure
through Country Music Capital News and, of course, the highly
sought-after Toyota Star Maker title itself.
In relation to the album recording, through award-winning label
Compass Brothers, the deal will offer an option for an on-going
arrangement to the winner with additional albums.
Graham Thompson, Managing Director of Compass Brothers Records, said
his team was extremely excited to be involved and believed their
involvement would continue to guarantee to deliver the best, most
exciting new talent to Australian fans.
“There is a lot of young talent out there and we believe that with the
combined enthusiasm of the recently enlarged Compass Brothers team and
the guys at Capital News and Rural Press Events, the winner of Toyota
Star Maker 2007 will be a household name that much quicker,” he said.
“We are looking forward to launching the next star of country music to
join the galaxy of stars that have gone before.”
The 20 finalists in Toyota Star Maker this year are now busily
preparing for their participation in the finals which will run in the
Toyota Country Theatre at the Tamworth Regional Entertainment Centre
this Sunday (January 21).
As well as their on-stage performances, contenders go through
gruelling interview sessions with Star Maker judges to ensure they
“have what it takes” to give themselves the best possible chance of
career success.
The 20 will be reduced to a field smaller than the previous top 10 who
will do battle on Sunday night in the grand final to determine the
Toyota Star Maker winner.

‘BLACK & BLUE’
-
The funniest new Australian comedy in years
kicks off its 2007 tour in Tamworth. Black & Blue was developed and
written by Dave Prior and Ian Heydon, two middle-aged blokes who
refuse to grow up. Dave and Ian first collaborated on the radio series
The Year My Country Bloke and Ian’s comedy credits include Kingswood
Country, The Samuel Pepys Show and How Green Was My Cactus.
Black & Blue stars The Walkabout Man who is assisted by his little
white mate, ‘Blue’. It’s an adults-only comedy because, according to
Heydon, there are certain adjectives that go hand-in-hand with people
like George Bush. Prior agrees saying that nothing is sacred, adding
that it is a “black eye for the white guy”. Both believe the show can
work on two levels, depending on the venue configuration and how many
people turn up.
It’s funny… it’s irreverent… it’s R-Rated (18+) and what better way to
round off a great week of music than with a night of laughs?

Good Companion (Now owned by
the Pub Family)
The Good Companions Hotel will open late in December, and
during the festival there will be no live
music there at all. It's a designated music-free zone - will just be a
great place to chill out
away from the music; have a drink or a meal in peace and quiet.
