- WOLVERINES SAIL FOR KIDS
TOUR
They’re at it again - following the great success of their
2003 Sail for CF Kids Tour, the Wolverines are once more sailing
north - Sydney to North Queensland and all ports in between. This
time it is the Wolverines Sail for Kids Tour, designed not just as a
concert tour, but also to raise awareness and funds for less
fortunate children along the way.
The first concert (6th July) will be held at the Cruising Yacht Club
of Australia in Rushcutters Bay, Sydney. After the show the
Wolverines will board their 52ft Beneteau yacht HOLY COW! and, along
with their entourage, head north.
HOLY COW! will be accompanied by other yachts making the trip north
for Airlie Beach and Hamilton Island Race Weeks, and just to spread
a few smiles, before each gig the Wolves will be giving some
disadvantaged children the opportunity for a sailing experience.
Then they will be up on stage to put on one hell of a show at night!
As well as performing at each venue, the Wolverines will conduct a
short auction during interval, to raise funds for a needy child or a
local children’s charity. The Wolves have produced a signed, limited
edition canvas print to auction each night (along with other donated
items).
The tour comes on the back of the Wolverines signing a deal with One
Stop Country to exclusively distribute the Wolverines latest albums
– Good Time, Making Tracks and Wolverines and Roses.

The Wolverines have previously brought Cystic Fibrosis under the
spotlight with their hit song "65 Roses", but the trio want to do
more to help children in need. This new tour will snake its way up
the coast to Cairns, ending at Silkwood in Far North Queensland.
In the lead-up to the Sail For Kids Tour, the Wolverines will
perform at the first ever Stampede Festival at Dreamworld on the
Gold Coast June 23.

- RECOGNITION AT BUSH
BALLAD AWARDS AND VICTORIAN & NATIONAL CM AWARDS
RUM Entertainment would like to recognise Reg Poole,
Wolverines and Sovereign – all winners over the past couple of weeks
at two award ceremonies.
Reg Poole was named Male Vocalist for his stirring tribute song ‘A
Tribute To Slim’ at the 2007 Stan Coster Memorial Bush Ballad
Awards, held at Bungendore. The song is from his current album FOR

Receiving Group of the Year at the National Country Music Awards

- WOLVERINES CLEAN UP AT PEOPLE’S CHOICE
AWARDS
The Wolverines had a rewarding time at the recent Tamworth Country
Music Festival, with over sixteen great shows, helping raise money
for a variety of charity organisations via the 11th Wolverines Poker
Run and inaugural Wolverines Charity Luncheon, and even helped
promote literacy/reading to children.
On top of this, they were awarded at the Australian Country Music
People’s Choice Awards for Best Song ‘Angel Eyes’ and Best Album
‘Good Times’.
- The album was produced by Louie
Shelton, with his son Matt Shelton continuing the success, penning
the award-winning song ‘Angel Eyes’.

- Mo Award Winners 2004
TROY CASSAR-DALEY, Melinda Schneider and the
Wolverines have taken top country honours at this year's "MO" Awards
announced in Sydney last week.
Veteran country star and Country Music Roll of Renown inductee Jimmy Little
was announced as joint winner (with Beeb Birtles, Glenn Shorrock and Graeme
Goble) of Classic Rock Performer(s) of the Year.
Canterbury-Hurlstone Park RSL Club an often "country" venue was named
NSW Variety Venue of the Year.

courtship Kay Ruprecht has finally said yes to a marriage

- This year the band has gone
from strength to strength and toured extensively taking their show across
Australia and abroad. January,
and the boys enjoyed an extremely successful Tamworth Festival not only
performing to a packed ’Dungeon’ at the Services Club every night, but
also entertaining kids at their family shows during the day.
Next stop was Western Australia and the Boyup Brook Festival, where
the sandgropers were given their first taste of partying the Wolverine
style. After touring most of eastern Australia, Tassie was next to play
host to the Wolves as they sold out their Wrest Point and Country Club
Casino shows. Then it was off
to the land of the long white cloud where the Wolverines headlined the New
Zealand Gold Guitar Awards held in Gore.
This prestigious event was attended by the
Prime Minister of NZ and Mayor of Gore who loved the show so much
she also bestowed the honour of presenting them with the keys to the city!
And of course, no tour would be complete without taking time out to spend
with the kids from the local Primary Schools.
- The demand for Wolverines at an immense variety of events
and functions is at an all time high. The size of the gig doesn’t matter
to these guys – whether it is appearing at a major festival for 40,000
fans or in a country pub with a hundred in the audience – the show and
positive, good-time attitude remain the same. Festivals, pubs and clubs,
country shows and rodeos, B & S Balls, children’s concerts,
corporate and sporting functions and events – any gig requiring full-on,
quality good-time entertainment is a Wolverines’ gig.
- Of course, the biggest news for the Wolverines this year is
the release of their debut single with their new record label, ACMEC
titled ‘65
Roses‘. This partnership is the culmination of a long alliance
with Arthur and Pat Laing who are not only the exclusive booking agents
for the Wolverines, but also own ACMEC records. Together with the boys,
they joined forces with the L.J.Hooker network to promote ‘65 Roses’
which tells the story of a small boy who could not pronounce Cystic
Fibrosis - the condition which afflicted his sister and affected his
entire family.
- The
Wolves recorded the song to raise awareness and research funds for CF with
a percentage of all sales being donated to the association.
- And
it looks like they will achieve this objective! It received the support of
2UE’s Ray Hadley who played
the single on his program and was inundated with calls from the public who
were either affected directly or indirectly from CF. He was not the only
announcer to experience this sort of public reaction.
Gerry
Warren from Stereo 974 in
Melbourne said he played the song on his Sunday program and received
lots of calls from his listeners relating personal experiences with CF and
requests to play the song. He did this 2 hours later and this time the
number of calls
doubled which made him declare “I
have never had a reaction like
this in my 10 years on radio”.
The
single is receiving so much attention and support that it is currently
racing up the ARIA Charts
- The band is already laying down tracks for their forthcoming
album which will hopefully be released in October.
‘65 Roses’ is just a taste of what’s to come, so if you like
the single you’re going to love the album!
- Buzzwords have become trendy in recent times.
Maybe one day
soon the creators of trendy language will stumble upon the fact that the word
Wolverines actually means partyin’, dancin’ and havin’ a good time and of
course, carin‘.
