During the launching of their new cd
Still Creakin at the Awards Show held
at the Kempsey RSL over the Kempsey Country Music and Trucking
Festival, Cedar Creek were presented with an Akubra Cedar Hat Award for best
Country band/Group.Each member of the band also received an award in
recognition of valuable contribution to Country Music.
Other award winners were Felicity, Carol Donovan, and Shorty Ranger, who
received the Living Legend Award. The band appeared on stage with Rob
Wilson, Carol Donovan and Martin Oaks, all venues having capacity crowds.
At long last our new cd..STILL
CREAKIN' was launched at the
Kempsey Country Music Festival on September 12TH,at the awards concert held
at Kempsey RSL.
The CD included three new songs, one written by Dave Tyne and two by long
time legend Shorty Ranger. We
have just recorded two tracks, one written by old mate Shorty Ranger, and
we are just getting them out for airplay now. These two tracks will be
included on our forthcoming album, which we hope to complete by the end of
the year.
Our previous cd still continues to receive quite a lot of airplay, and is
still sitting around No. 46 on the worldwide independent country music chart
from Nashville.
BEEN OUT OF ACTION FOR AWHILE, COMPUTER BLEW UP, HAD TO
WORK IN A NEW DRUMMER
INTO THE BAND, AND WE HAVE BEEN IN THE STUDIO WORKING ON A NEW CD, PLUS OUR
SIGN AND SCREEN PRINTING BUSINESS HAS BEEN VERY BUSY, HOWEVER THINGS ARE BACK
ON TRACK NOW SO I AM OFF AND RUNNING.
OUR CD HAS BEEN RECEIVING
QUITE A LOT
OF AIRPLAY BOTH HERE ON THE FM STATIONS AND IN MANY COUNTRIES OVERSEAS
REACHING AS HIGH AS NO.46 ON THE MAJOR AND INDEPENDENT COUNTRY MUSIC
INTERNET CHART OUT OF NASHVILLE, WHICH GOES ON THE NUMBER OF SPINS RECEIVED
FROM RADIO STATIONS AROUND THE WORLD. THERE ARE 266 SONGS LISTED ON THE
CHART, SO HOPEFULLY WE MAY GET HIGHER DEPENDING ON CONTINUED AIRPLAY. ONLY
BROADCASTERS WHO SUBMIT THEIR PLAYLISTS TO THE BOARD ARE COUNTED, BUT THEIR
ARE HUNDREDS OF STATIONS INVOLVED, AND MANY MORE NEW ONES JOINING EVERYDAY, A
GREAT WAY FOR INDEPENDENT ARTISTS TO SEE HOW THEIR CD IS PERFORMING.
WE ARE INVOLVED AGAIN IN THE KEMPSEY COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL AGAIN IN
SEPTEMBER AND I BELIEVE THE SUNDAY CONCERT WILL INCLUDE, BESIDES
OURSELVES, THE MCKEAN SISTERS WITH BACK UP BAND, PROBABLY SLIMS BAND I
SUPPOSE, LAURIE MINSON AND BAND, PIXIE JENKINS AND A FEW OTHER ARTISTS, I AM NOT
SURE OF AT THIS TIME. WE WILL HAVE A SEVEN PIECE BAND ON STAGE THIS YEAR
INCLUDING ANOTHER OLD GRAND JUNCTION PLAYER, LANCE CLARKE, WHO WILL BE PLAYING
FIDDLE WITH CEDAR CREEK OVER THE WEEKEND, SHOULD BE A REAL BUZZ, A BIT LIKE
OLD TIMES AS BESIDES MYSELF THERE WILL BE MIKE TYNE AND LANCE CLARKE, THREE
ORIGINAL MEMBERS OF GRAND JUNCTION ON STAGE TOGETHER.
I WILL GET TOGETHER SOME BAND DATES AND LET YOU KNOW WHERE WE WILL BE
APPEARING.
BEST REGARDS...DAVE TYNE.
- The Cedar Creek CD has just started to break
into overseas playlists with airplay in Paris, France, Denmark, Canada and
some American stations including Cowboy Joe's Radio Ranch in New York
City.Radio. Sweden have also just requested a cd for
radio airplay. We already have plans in place to produce a new
CD in 2003 including more original material, and a song especially written
for the band by Shorty Ranger.
- Dave Tyne.
Cedar Creek
David Tyne, ex leader and
founder of Grand Junction, (remember them?) now leads a new six piece band
called Cedar Creek. They have recently released a sixteen
track CD with quite a variety of country on it including three original
tunes that were written by David. The CD is just now receiving
quite a lot of airplay across Australia and so far the reports have been
excellent. David believes Tamworth has been giving it a
good go and hopes they can visit Tamworth next January as he hasn't
been involved since Grand Junction split up in the mid Eighties.
Cedar Creek are in the middle of setting up a website which should be
completed soon.

'Cedar Creek' are recognised as one
of the leading country music groups on the Mid North Coast of NSW and have been
together approx. 7 years With
the release of their debut self titled CD receiving airplay across Australia
through various radio programs, their music is now reaching the mainstream
country music listeners around the country. The Repertoire of the
band is large and varied due to over 40 years experience of some of the
musicians and can include old time dance, rock'n'roll and bush music, but the
specialty of the group remains contemporary country music. The
lineup consists of Dave Tyne, leader of the group, who with his previous band
Grand Junction rose to prominence in the 70's and 80's taking out the Tamworth
Country Music Talent Quest in 1979, the first Starmaker Quest in 1980, the
Golden Guitar for best group in 1981 and and going on to win the Mo Award before
disbanding in the middle 1980's Dave was inducted into The Hands of Fame in
Tamworth in 1982. Other
members of Cedar Creek include Dave's son Clint Tyne, electric lead guitar,
blue. grass banjo and vocals. Mr.
Smooth, John Blight on lead & harmony vocals and rhythm guitar. Brian
(Smokey) Killmore, percussion and lead & harmony vocals. Peter
Figgett, keyboards, lead vocals and other strange sounds. Peter, a
seasoned performer has travelled worldwide and worked with his own group
throughout England for a number of years. Mike

former player with the Slim Dusty Travelling Country
