Letter from United States Lee Kenaghan Fan
Hi guys ...
I'm in the United States. Love Australian country music. Love Lee Kernaghan even more. He's the best there is and has set the standard so high that no American artist can even come close to his incredible voice, brilliant songwriting, kindness, the way he treats his fans, and his great character. It's so nice to find someone with that kind of God-given talent, who is movie-star gorgeous, a huge superstar ... and without ego. Someone who is humble, appreciative of his fans, and so 'normal'. It's so nice to never see any bad press, no tattoos, no earrings, and someone who we, as fans, can all look up to and be so proud.

I run a fan site for Lee that is growing every week. There are now over 200 members. The board has been up since 2005 and is quite established. The focus is the love of Lee and encouraging mateships between his fans. There is a huge amount of information about Lee on the site. A complete discography, song lyrics, many articles, links to chords and line dances to Lee's songs and much more. Even Lee is amazed at how much information is there.

It would be nice if you could provide the link to the site on the Rage Pages so that other fans of Lee's can find us. The site is at:
http://groups.msn.com/LeeKernaghanfans
Because I'm in the US, I haven't had the privilege of seeing Lee in concert nor have I had the chance to meet him yet ... and that is my dream. I have all of his CDs and DVDs and a fair amount of concert posters. I've been involved in country music for a long time but have never come upon anyone who I admire or enjoy as much as Lee. He is an Australian national treasure and a gift I wish the rest of the world knew about.

The "MAN" - Lee Kernaghan
The bush now is in, a dire time of drought
And to lend a hand, and so to help out
And to give of his time, as he does so often
To make the burden of hardships, so to soften

Comes a legend known, to all country blokes
And also too, to the big city folks
That he will do all, that is in his might
And to never surrender, without a fight

The No.1 member, of the Outback Club
Whether he be on the land, or in the pub
The crowds all rally in, from miles around
To listen and party, to his country rock sound

And although the times, they may be a bit grim
Their hopes get raised, just by bein' near him
As they sing along awhile, and let their spirits soar
That gets 'em up dancin', and to yellin' for more

For he has that special gift, as you can see
Of makin' everyone, includin' you and me
To be forgettin' our woes, and to live it on up
And never back down, and never give up

A more genuine bloke, you wouldn't wish to find
And he most certainly is, just that 'one of a kind'
And that's what makes me, to be such a huge fan

Aussie Music Legends (from CMAA)
Australian music legends Paul Kelly and Lee Kernaghan will headline the two greatly anticipated concerts at the 2005 Deniliquin World Record Ute Muster.

Held over the September 30 to October 2 long weekend, the two concerts at this year's Play on the Plains festival will be compered by television celebrity Ben Dark, with a first class line up guaranteed.

On Friday night Australia's Paul Kelly will feature as the headline act, joined by Steve Forde and The Flange, Bella and Felicity Urquhart for a full evening of entertainment.

The best of Aussie talent will also be showcased on Saturday night with Lee Kernaghan, Dein Perry's Tap Dogs, Ross Wilson and The Urban Legends, Beccy Cole, Sunny Cowgirls and the Davidson Brothers.

After selling more than 600,000 records and with each of his four studio albums before Electric Rodeo going Platinum, Lee Kernaghan has earned a steadfast reputation as one of Australia's top country performers. He has won 26 Golden Guitars, as well as two ARIAs. His songs reflect the rawness of country music. “If I look back on the saddest times in my life, they were to do with girls or music. It doesn't matter if you're from Balmain or Barcaldine, country is about real life human emotions and experience,'' Kernaghan said. Kernaghan will feel right at home at the muster because as he has said, he prefers his ute to horses.

Friday night's feature act Paul Kelly has channelled his talents towards releasing numerous albums, theatre, film soundtracks, acting, record production and songwriting with and for other artists during his music career. His work has won acclaim from Australian and overseas critics including Rolling Stone music editor David Fricke. He described Kelly as “...one of the finest songwriters I have ever heard, Australian or otherwise.'' Kelly's recent songs have been described as “roiling and seething with feeling, wondering at their own abandon and delighting in the ride'' and “fresh and resilient.''

The two jam packed concerts are part of a dazzling array of entertainment that has been organised for the festival weekend.

Also included will be the spectacular bull ride, Pip Borrman's Amazing Aerobatics, Australian Army demonstrations and display, monster tractor pull, lots of children's entertainment, woodchop demonstrations, a ute museum, dynamic lawn mower races and whip cracking.

Ticket prices for this muster will offer outstanding value for money.
Pre-purchased festival tickets cost $80 per person, or $95 at the gate.
For 13-17 years old the price is $40 for a weekend pass, pre-purchased or bought at the gate.
Children 12 years old and under are free and must be accompanied by an adult.
Tickets on sale from June 11 and can be purchased by calling the Ute Muster office on 03 5881 3388.

Lee Kernaghan  & Colin Buchanan Four Nominations - APRA,Vocal Collaboration, Heritage and Single of the Year
from CMAA
LESS THAN a month after the release of his retrospective album Lee Kernaghan: The Big Ones - Greatest Hits Volume 1, the album has been certified Gold by ARIA (Australian Record Industry Association).
"Lee has a huge and loyal following across Australia," said the release announcing the Gold record status, "and his fans couldn't wait to get a copy of this sensational new album which captures all the highlights of his decade-long career.

"In that time, he's enjoyed a string of hits, won numerous awards for his music, seen all his albums go either Gold or Platinum, and become the face and voice of contemporary Australian country music."

Lee's currently riding high on the country charts with his latest single, Missin' Slim, written by, and recorded with, close mate Colin Buchanan.

Both Missin' Slim and Lee's new single, a version of the Australian rock classic Down Under, are featured on The Big Ones which includes songs from all six of Lee's career albums, The Big OnesThe Outback Club, Three Chain Road, 1959, Hat Town, Rules Of The Road and Electric Rodeo.

Lee described The Big Ones as "more than just a collection of my number one hits... I really wanted it to reflect where my music's gone over the past 12 years, and to include a few songs that were real milestones for me," he said.

The album has Lee's signature tune, Boys From The Bush, along with hits like Hat Town, Something In The Water, The Way It Is, She's My Ute, I'm From The Country, Gettin' Gone, High Country and She Waits By The Sliprails.

BIO
 November 20th, 2004
Lee Kernaghan is one of Australian music’s greatest artists. Since bursting onto the scene in 1992 with his groundbreaking “Outback Club” album, Lee’s music has captured the imagination of the nation. His contribution to Australian music has seen him awarded 19 Golden Awards, two ARIA awards and numerous gold, platinum and double platinum records.

It is through his music that Lee has cemented his place as one of this country’s true stars. Whether it is performing on the Birdsville Track to 5,000 Aussies going off in the outback or performing in the Hollywood Hills at a Pre-Oscar party to 400 movie stars and Hollywood executives, Lee’s music has a special and broad appeal.

A boy from the bush, Lee was born in the high country on the foothills of the Snowy Mountains. His birthplace of Corryong is also, ironically, the resting-place of Jack Riley, reputed to be the original Man From Snowy River.

Lee’s role as The Balladeer in the production of The Man From Snowy River Arena Spectacular is a part he has described as “very close to my heart.” His connection to the production was further enhanced when asked to write a part of the music score for the show. In addition the producers have utilised several of Lee’s previously recorded songs in the production. The CD Soundtrack from the show won the ARIA Award for Best Live Production Soundtrack.

Upon the completion of the 36 date Entertainment Centre production of the Man From Snowy River, Lee became involved in the Farmhand Foundation. The board of the foundation comprises some of Australia’s business leaders, who upon hearing of Lee’s planned drought relief concert, asked if Lee would join forces and the Foundation would assist in producing the concert. The Farmhand concert kicked off the Foundation and the appeal with a nationally televised show from the Sydney Superdome. The initiative has now raised in excess of $30 million dollars for drought relief.

In 1998 Lee started the Pass The Hat Around Australia Foundation. The concept was to take Lee’s show into communities with a desperate need. The aim is to raise money to help the community cause but also to raise the spirit of these communities. 1200 communities responded with calls for help. Lee, through the assistance of corporate sponsorship, did seven shows in remote areas of Australia. The tour raised over a quarter of a million dollars for the communities who were now able to rebuild their town hall or set up youth programs, and in some cases were able to purchase life saving medical equipment that has helped to save lives and continues to do so.

The most recent Toyota Pass the Hat Around Australia Tour was staged in 5 country centres around Australia. Lee raised money for a variety of community needs including a bushfire rebuilding project, childhood Leukemia and cancer research projects, the purchasing of air conditioners in outback schools in Queensland and concluding with a major flood relief concert in Moora WA. The two tours have raised in excess of $1.2 million for local communities. Lee is planning another Pass The Hat Around Australia Tour for 2005.

As an artist Lee is going from strength to strength. His last album, “Electric Rodeo”, has been described by music journalists as his greatest album ever. The Sunday Mail described Electric Rodeo as a “benchmark album for Australian music”.

“Electric Rodeo” entered the ARIA pop charts as the highest selling Australian record. Lee recently said, “this is the most universal album I have ever recorded”. It has been praised by critics for its musical prowess, a result of Lee working with 28 stellar musicians from both Australia and America, utilising a mixture of players from country and rock music backgrounds.

Lee’s work on the Electric Rodeo album was rewarded at last year’s Australian Country Music Awards with two Golden Guitars for Album of the Year and Highest Selling Album. These two awards gave Lee a total of 19 Golden Guitars.

In 2003 the American Country Music Association (CMA) awarded Lee the inaugural International Artist Award for excellence in Country Music. Catherine Britt collected the award in Nashville on Lee’s behalf. A few months later Catherine and Lee recorded a duet on the song “Love Hurts” which is currently the number one video on CMC.

2003 saw Lee’s gigantic Electric Rodeo National Tour hit the road. The tour played most of the major venues around Australia and also took in all capital cities. The Electric Rodeo Tour was far and away the largest undertaking that Lee has ever presented. The show featured a giant video wall and live cameras inter-cut with pre-produced visuals that set another new benchmark in Australian Country Music.

In July of this year, Lee released his first DVD “Access All Areas”. The DVD features all of Lee’s hit videos, some live performances and an archive of television appearances dating back to his very first television performance on the Midday Show in 1992. This DVD is designed to be the fan’s exclusive VIP Pass that gives total access into the world of Lee Kernaghan. The viewer is taken on the road with Lee, into his dressing room and hotel rooms, into private song sessions and even into his getaway shack in the mountains. One of the most exciting parts of the DVD is when Lee takes us to his hotel in Rockhampton to be a part of great Western Hotel Rodeo.

The “Access All Area” DVD turned Gold after just three weeks of release and it is quickly heading for Platinum status.

September 2004 saw the release of Lee’s first Greatest Hits CD – The Big Ones – Greatest Hits Volume One. Last week the album was certified gold four weeks after entering the Country Music Charts at #1. The Big Ones continues its path to platinum status and this week it is the highest selling Australian Country Music album on the charts.

This week Lee also holds the number one chart position for the most played country music song with his duet with Colin Buchanan and their moving tribute to Slim Dusty – Missin Slim.

Lee Kernaghan continues to deliver quality product and shows to his fans. It is the care along with Lee’s unique talent that sets the foundation for his success to continue for many years to come.

Lee Wins International Award
From CMAA

LEE KERNAGHAN has been named winner of the inaugural CMA (Country Music Association, America) Global Artist Award.

Lee was one of 10 finalists selected from around the world to represent their country in this first presentation... launched by the CMA to recognise a country music artist whose career is based outside of the USA.

The CMA will honour Lee during Fan Fair 2003 which runs from June 5-8 in Nashville. Candidates for the award came from suggestions offered by CMA's international membership. A panel of judges determined which artist created the most impact in their home territory.

Lee was invited to receive the honour and perform during Fan Fair but had to decline as the dates clash with his Electric Rodeo Tour (the June 7 concert at Newcastle's Civic Theatre has already sold out). In lieu, he will send a video acceptance and will be represented by his manager Stephen White.

White broke the news to Lee in front of a sell-out crowd of 3,000 during a show at The Great Arena in Rockhampton, the first major live show to be held at Lee's newly acquired Great Western Hotel

CMA TO PRESENT FIRST GLOBAL ARTIST AWARD
 AT FAN FAIR (R)
Ten Candidates Vying for New CMA Honor

NASHVILLE - The Country Music Association will honor the recipient of the
first Global Artist Award during CMA's Fan Fair(R), Thursday through Sunday,
June 5-8 in Nashville, Tenn. Initiated by CMA's Global Markets Task Force
and approved by CMA's Board of Directors in 2002, the Global Artist Award
recognizes outstanding achievement by a Country Music artist who has both
furthered the popularity of the format and brought attention to Country
Music in their foreign-based territory.

Ten nominees have been designated from territories worldwide. They include:

Lee Kernaghan (Australia) has received many honors in his career, including
19 Golden Guitar awards and 2 ARIA awards.  He's even been named Australia's
Country Entertainer of the Year twice, and all of his albums have reached
Platinum status. Kernaghan boasts 20 Top 10 hits, 14 of which have gone to
No. 1. Kernaghan has used his status to raise money for various charities
with his "Pass The Hat Around" shows, and he has mentored many young country
acts.
Tom Astor (Germany) has been active in the Country Music business in Germany
and Europe for 40 Years. With sales near 10 million, more than 30 albums to
his credit, hit singles and television and radio show appearances, Astor is
the most successful Country artist in his territory. The German-American
Country Music Federation has named Astor Best Male Vocalist of the Year 10
times. He was the first German artist invited to perform on Nashville's
Grand Ole Opry stage. Astor regularly serves as producer on his records,
teaming with the best musicians in Nashville. He is the ambassador of
Country Music in Germany and is the region's link to the Nashville music
scene.

Anchise Bolchi (Italy) is among the most popular and most experienced
Country Music artists in Italy. He tours the country and thrills crowds
playing popular American music on the fiddle. In 1989, he left a career as
an industrial designer to become a full-time Country artist, joining a
Country-rock band called Arizona. As word spread about Bolchi, he began
receiving offers to play on studio albums of many Italian artists; and he
began appearing with American artists on tour. Bolchi launched his solo
career in 1991, touring Italy with up to 150 dates each year. His 1997 debut
album, The Last Track, and his 2000 follow-up, The Space Fiddler, have
demonstrated his skills and passion for Country Music, along with the
immense creativity required to rearrange old hits with a very personal
style.

John Brack (Switzerland) has become a leading figure of Swiss Country Music.
Each of his last 22 albums has sold in excess of 350,000 copies, a record
for Swiss Country Music. Brack performs more than 100 concerts a year,
including international performances with shows in Bad Ischl/Austria,
Dublin, Frankfurt, Hamm/FRG, Holland, Las Vegas, Peterborough/UK and
Silkeborg. Brack, who has been dubbed "Mr. Swiss Country" by the media, has
also appeared at CMA's Fan Fair. In 1979, he signed a contract with EMI
Switzerland and signed with BMG Switzerland a decade later. In 2000, Brack
celebrated 20 years in the Country and gospel music formats.

Heidi Hauge (Scandinavia) started singing Country Music seven years ago in
her Norwegian hometown. In 1997, a Showtime Records executive discovered
Hauge, and she began working on her first album. Since 1999, Hauge has
released five albums, four of which have reached Gold or Platinum status
helping to earn her the affectionate title of "Country Queen of Scandinavia"
from area entertainment magazines. Haug's last album was released in
December 2002.

Ruud Hermans (The Netherlands) has been writing, recording and performing
Country Music for more than 25 years. After starting out with a band called
The Tumbleweeds, which was later renamed Tulsa, Hermans has toured worldwide
and still plays concerts in Europe. He also takes part in various
singer/songwriter sessions with Dutch and international artists, such as
Dick van Altena, Rob Crosby, Frank Jansen and Nashville singer/songwriter
Victoria Shaw. Hermans has championed the Dutch Country Music Association
Awards and has served as host for many years. In 2002, he was inducted in
the Dutch Country Music Hall Of Fame.

Jason McCoy (Canada) has released three albums on Universal Music Canada,
including the 1999 Gold-certified Playin' For Keeps. McCoy has received many
SOCAN and Canadian Country Music Association awards. With 10 singles
reaching the top 15 and three No.1 singles, McCoy has proven chart success.
He has toured Australia twice and played throughout Canada opening shows for
artists including Terri Clark and Martina McBride.

Charlie Nagatani (Japan) started singing Country Music in 1956 at age 20.
Nagatani and his band, The Western Cannonballs, began performing at U.S.
Military Clubs in Japan, Okinawa, Taiwan, Guam, the Philippines and Thailand
until the Vietnam War ended. Upon his return to Kumamoto, Nagatani opened a
Country Music saloon named "Good Time Charlie's," where he still entertains
seven nights a week. In 1989, Nagatani organized the first Country Gold
festival, and in 1992, Nagatani travelled to Nashville to record his first
album, which featured friends Emmylou Harris, Bill Monroe, Porter Wagoner
and others. In 2001, an independent filmmaker produced a documentary of
Nagatani's life.

Replete Bros. (Greece), featuring brothers Antonis and Dimitris, are the
only professional Country Music group in Greece working with record
companies.  As composers, lyricists, interpreters, performers, arrangers and
producers of their own work, the Replete Bros. have performed live all over
Greece and appeared in many television and radio specials. Their latest
release, Crossroads, has been compared to recordings in the United States in
both content and quality. Antonis serves as president of the Country Music
Club of Greece.

Catherine Britt has recorded a duet with Lee Kernaghan.    The song they recorded is the old Everly Brothers song "Love Hurts" also recorded by Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris in the 70's.
The song will become available in March on a bonus album released with Lee's Electric Rodeo. The album should also be available separately. Radio play should commence very soon.
Lee is totally knocked out by the duet, and veteran producer, Garth Porter, is extremely excited about the recording.
