Biography
CMT Gympie Muster
Talent Search Winner
TIM WOOD mailto:timwood@iprimus.com.au
VICTORIAN Tim Wood is determined to make his mark in the Australian music
scene and his latest single, Sign Of The Times, has certainly confirmed the
ability of this talented singer/songwriter.
With a fresh powerful contemporary sound to it, Sign Of The Times is the
third single of his self titled EP and follows his tender ballad Fallen Love
and the punchy, upbeat Big Night Out.
With Sign Of The Times, it shows that Tim can cover the full spectrum of
musical styles, something not lost on many in the industry who have watched
him grow musically since he burst on the scene to win the Gympie Muster
Talent Search in 2000.
Since then, Tim has taken part in the 2001 CMAA College of Country Music,
earning plenty of praise, not only from his teachers and tutors but also his
colleagues.
Tim Wood has created his own sound, featuring one of the finest male voices
going and musically expanding the boundaries when it comes to country music.
Last year was one of consolidation for Tim who spent much of the year
travelling and performing before making a welcome return to the Muster where
he showed that his win there the previous year was no fluke.
Since then, he has been nominated for the Best New Talent, the Best
Independent Release and the Male Vocalist of the Year in the open sections
of the Victorian Country Music Awards as well as being nominated for Male
Vocalist of the Year in the Victorian section of the awards.
Now with 2002 ahead and the release of an album high on the priority, the
single Sign Of The Times may be a sneak preview of what lies ahead for fans
of this dynamic performer.

Tim has just released "Big
Night Out", track two on the EP as the second single. We have released it
through nfs with Mike Smith and Tim has started doing interviews to support
it. As you know we released Fallen Love as the first single and
really wanted to do something different for the second and there's nothing like
some good country rock. Tim has been writing some good new
material and is about to do a four month tour (dates are still being finalised)
in the northern states with the highlight to be the Gympie Muster. We hope to be
back in the studio late in the year.
- Tim has been entertaining audiences in Australia and
overseas for the last 10 years. He
established himself in America as one of Colorado’s leading musicians,
playing there for three years up to six nights a week.
In this time he developed a huge following, being acclaimed by the
local media, even appearing on television with a live performance and
interview.
- Having returned to Australia he
has spent the past few years establishing a horse riding ranch with his wife
Caroline, and limiting his performances to Victoria’s Surfcoast.
Having less time in the spotlight has provided the incentive for him
to create his own songs, including collaboration with friend Marty Maher.
- Tim entered the CMT Gympie Music
Muster Talent Search, (his first ever). After winning the modern
country heat, he then went on to perform solo on the main stage in front of
an estimated crowd of 10,000 people. With three original songs –
Time Bomb, My Tomorrow and Sign of the Times, he won the entire competition.
- As part of his prize he recently attended the
College of Country Music in Tamworth, which he found to be a very rewarding
experience, meeting both performers and industry figures. Being
a prolific songwriter, Tim was able to view the songwriting techniques of
some of the best, then write and perform several of the songs at the
Graduation concert. Tim also appeared to a packed house at the
West Tamworth Leagues Club during the festival.
He will now go on to represent Australia in the Trans-Tasman Talent
Quest on Norfolk Island in May.
- With Tim’s trademark strong vocal,
natural on-stage presence and the depth of original material at his
disposal, he hopes to attract a recording contract to allow him to take his
music to the highest level. His
first single “Fallen Love” is currently receiving good national airplay
and was written in America several years ago about a failed
relationship. It is a classic ballad about love gone wrong that
demonstrates the depth of Tim’s vocal.
- Tim will record his first album during
2001which will demonstrate the full range of his repertoire, from some
beautiful ballads to country rock.
- The single can be purchased online at
