TAMWORTH FESTIVAL BUSKING
  from CMAA

BUSKERS ARRIVING in Tamworth for the 2006 Telstra Country Music Festival have the opportunity to win big money in the prestigious Northern Daily Leader National Buskers' Champion-ships.

Like previous winners, Dorrigo's Sommers Family and the very talented Williams Sisters, this year's winner will have the chance to take home cash, and be invited to perform at the official festival closing concert at the Tamworth Regional Entertainment Centre.

From January 16, judges will patrol the Boulevarde of Dreams (aka Peel St) until Saturday, January 24, when the finals will be held. A major concert will be staged with finalists performing up to two items during the championship event.

Entry in the Buskers' Championships is free, but all buskers must first register at The Northern Daily Leader upon arrival in Tamworth. They will be given an allotted space in Peel Street and an entry number.

Buskers wanting to know more about the competition, should contact The Northern Daily Leader's circulation department on 02 6768 1271. The Leader is located at the corner of Brisbane and Marius Streets, diagonally opposite the Australian Country Music Foundation (ACMF).

An innovation to the busking competition this year will be a special award judged and presented by the ACMF for the busker best reflecting the heritage of Australian country music.
