The best way to describe the Gympie Muster is
sensationally successful, for the fans, the artists, the organisers
and the small army of volunteers that ran this fantastic event so
smoothly. With ticket sales topping 80,000 plus, that is an enormous
amount of Country Music lovers converging into a State Forest to
experience the biggest and the best Muster ever. The weather was very
mild with cool nights and warm days and just a couple of night time
showers to settle the dust. With the Gympie Apex Club supported by
many other hard working charities making sure the campers had plenty
of hot showers, clean toilets, great food and cold drinks, all
provided with a smile and a caring attitude.
The quality of entertainment enjoyed was world class
and ranged from Blues, Rockabilly, Bluegrass and traditional Country
with many overseas artists adding an International flavour. The
Poets and Bluegrass Breakfasts were popular as were the clogging and
line dancing classes. With 11 huge marquees pumping out varying
types of entertainment as well as the open air main stage in a natural
ampitheatre providing something for everyone. On Friday, Saturday and
Sunday afternoons and evenings headlined by the likes of Troy Cassar-Daley,
Kasey Chambers, Lee Kernaghan, Adam Harvey and John Williamson plus
many others, had the mosh pit and the hill completely covered with not
a blade of grass left standing. It was amazing how well behaved and
friendly the fans were as they experienced an event that will be hard
to top. Well done Gympie.
